Oh dear.

Seems to me you have to move your steam account to your new computer, that's the only way you can play it there. Don't know much in the way of details but I do remember Steam being the main issue there. I remember that being one of Steams' flaws, or at least with HL2, it has fucking GAY copyright protection.

You need to sign in to the Steam account you used to register that copy of HL2. That's the problem with Steam, its a double edged sword. Its really nice in that you can install the games wherever you want, whenever you want, but you need high speed internet and you have to have your account details to do it! I had serious issues with Steam when I was on dial-up, but now that I'm on high speed I think it's great.

You need to track down your Steam account name and password if you forgot it!

Yeah, you have to log in to steam to play any steam game. Half life 2 is one of them. Basically, the details of your steam account are stored on their servers, not your computer. so you have to log in to steam, then install it.

i find steam to be pretty useful for swapping games between trusted friends. just let them use your steam account and they can download the game directly

assuming you don't know your steam details, valve support is decent in helping you get the steam login/password back.

This is why I never register my games when I buy them legit. Especially with Steam that can create a whole world of troubles for you.

Just download it. It's not like you'll be missing out on any patches as valve's patches do nothing at all.

ITT: implying that patches are useless

Wow, you obviously don't get how to play Half Life 2.

If the key doesn't work, use the gravity gun to go round the obstacle.

Delete this if you have to, but I'm trying to prove a point. OP, find your Steam account details or just download this.

I torrented Half-Life 2 and was playing the Single-player in like 10 minutes. My uncle gave me a 100% legit copy for x-mas or something i spent close to an hour and a half installing it and trying to get it to run. In the end i called Steam every name under the sun, dug out my downloaded version and was playing in 10 minutes.

If you had a legit key code you could have downloaded steam for free from steampowered.com made a free account and used the code. Then the game would have been enabled on your account and you could have downloaded the game.

So If you actually tried for that long then you are a failure.

I also used to think you had a brain because of your signature.
