Hey guys, i got a trial membership to a local gym, and i intend to get a membership.
They have every kind of equipment imaginable (national chain).
What kind of exercises should i focus on?
I'm admittedly overweight, and have a bad back.
I was thinking some Yoga and moderate cardio, possibly some sort of ab related stuff.
Anyone have thoughts?

Don't use any fancy machines that are there. Do squats and deadlifts, but be sure to have correct form as to not hurt your back any more. Benchpress, lift heavy.

This. squats and deadlifts are the best thing for a beginning lifter to become comfortable with, because they boost your performances with any other exercises.
try doing a simple arm curl after 3 sets of deadlifts. shit is cake.

Lots of cardio to lose weight.
Deadlifts (back, traps, hamstrings), squats (legs), shoulder press (shoulders), bench press (chest, triceps), and barbell curl (biceps, forearm.)
