My 6-ish month old Golden Retriever just had some x-rays done and apparently has hip dysplasia. Luckily the breeder covers all surgeries and treatments of it up to the price of the dog, but I'm wondering if there are any alternatives/additional treatments that can help my dog out.

I'm sorry to hear that. Have you contacted the breeder already? Most of the time, they'll try to get out of it. I know a guy who breeds dogs, and unless you have them x-rayed within like 48 hours of getting them, you're basically screwed.
Check your contract and make sure that it will be covered.

Put carpet down on areas your dog frequents says my mom. The extra cushion helps as well as stopping her from sliding around which could be painful.

Thanks guys. If anyone else has other insights into this situation I'd love to hear it.

Chondroitan/glucosamine sulfate might help--it is a supplement usually found in expensive food for older dogs.
HD is usually a disease of aging in dogs. My guess is your was to inbred, which happens a lot with purebred dogs--which is one reason we Alaskans tend to favor wolf hybrids --like our sweet 70-pound lapdog--a doberman/wolf hybrid.

My wife has posted many pics of him at her blog, but I am down to four minutes of comp time right now.
Stay tuned.
