Whats the cheapest youve seen these?

I went all over the mall yesterday and tried to find a pair of chucks for under $29.99 USD. Almost every store i went to they were 40 fucking bucks on sale, some were more, and i found a few that were $35. I went to the Converse website, and they were $45 USD!

Now the only reason this bewilders me, is that i can go to my local swapmeet or minimall, and get them for $20-$30. And they are actual Converse Chuck Taylors, not stupid knockoffs. Now i wouldnt doubt if they were fake or stolen, but this is an awesome price, considering most people buy all their bullshit clothes at the mall where everything is overpriced.

Lolz, you just can't get cheap ass shoes anymore. Don't they sell some sort-of cheap or knock off quality chucks at Target? Maybe it was some other store but I swear I saw them for 20 bucks or something to that, but didn't buy them because it seemed sketchy.

I have 12 pairs of Converse and most of them were 20$ brand new. I got most of them at TJ Max, but they were hard to find.
My most expensive pair were 120$

Making this thread in a forum named 'So Last Summer' is very apt. From one side.

Fuck converse. Like Dr. Martins, they've been bought out by nike and are now shitty quality and over priced.

Buy No Sweats. 100% Union made shoes that look just like converse, but are cheaper and guilt free (and other clothing).

I worked at Nike for a short stint, and they have nothing to do with Dr. Martins. Nike has the following brands in their portfolio:

Nike
Converse
Cole Haan
Umbro
Nike Bauer Hockey

And Dr Martens have nothing to do with Nike as shown by Kelso.

Dumb communist. Buying converse is an aesthetic regard for traditional things. Sure my shoes might be made by underpaid workers, but they say CONVERSE and that's American.

My mistake, Docs are no longer made in the UK though.

Here's what the soles looked like before moving to sweatshops:

And now here's what they look like:

The quality is shit, and they cost way too much, was my point.

Those look shitty. Chuck taylors arent overpriced though, only when you buy them at the fucking mall.

I bought some new ones yesterday for $30.

can you tell which ones are new?

Saying that i prefer my post-British made ones to my Dads Ancient British productuon ones.
Soles feel better, more padding on inside, changed the shitty eyelets which snag when bent, added more protection to the heel and added a greater relaxing point at the ankle so you don't get the big crase all the way around.

I'm onto my third pair. First two were £20 due to sales, then my mum got me a pair that were £30. I find they last 3-6 months average.

My pair, high tops with the album art from Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here, cost me $60. But it was damn worth it. Scotchgard 'em, and they'll look new after 6 months.

I love the things. They're pretty cheap to be honest. £30 isn't all that much for some new shoes when you'd spend that in a bar, or on lunch/coffees etc over a week.

$30 AUD for standard black hi-tops. Ebay. New.

They can go up to like $80 in some stores here, it's ridiculous.

I pay about $40 for mine. They are awesome shoes for doing squats and deadlifts, along with being super comfortable. The only thing I do is add a gel insole to make them even better.

My only beef with the Converse High Tops is they have NO grip. One day I had to wear them to work and I was skating around the kitchen :(

It is when they're fucking canvas and nothing.
