Ghetto Odor Control?

Hey,

Just wondering if there is a cheap, homemade solution for odor control for a 1 or 2 plant grow in an enclosed indoor area.

I did a quick online search as I figured a meshed frame could be constructed with some crushed up charcoal (stuff people use in BBQ's or Hookahs) inside and meshed up again on the other side to keep it all housed in - like stone walls with wire 'mesh' that people use as retaining walls...but on a smaller scale using charcoal instead of the stones and something like fly-screen (or something finer - even a old tshirt) in place of the wire.

I didn't find exactly what I was looking for but some forum had a reply to a somewhat similar question saying to use a 'sock filter'.

Does everyone know what I mean with the proposed charcoal filter? And once that's clear...will it work effectively as pre-treatment for outtake air odor control?

Has anyone done/seen/heard about anything similar to this? And if so how'd it work out?

I'm not sure if that would work...give her a try and let us know. I have never attempted to make my own charcoal filter. They aren't very expensive and with one of those, a small fan, and some tubing you could make a very inexpensive and effective outtake air filter.

Personally I've just always vented my fumes as high out of the house as I can...so it gets released far above people's noses. That and some good air fresheners in every surrounding room. Other than that I have never really had to worry about odor control.

Do you already have a system set up to to vent your exhaust outside? Have you checked the prices on any filters?

Yeah that's definitely something worth checking out OP. If you've only got a 1-2 plant gig going on there probably isn't going to be much need for a charcoal filter. The plants will only really start to stink a few weeks into flowering. Something like that Ona block could cover your ass for the 30-45 days you flower.

Friend of mine used it in the dorms when smoking pot along with the tube that had dryer sheets in it. Saved his ass every time and I'm guessing with plants it would definitely cover the smell.
