Lately my sleep habits have averaged out to going to bed at 1am and waking up at 7am, but not feeling tired at all. Is my body masking my tiredness or have I adapted to staying up late and still having enough energy to get through the day?

If I continue this trend will it effect by falling asleep randomly in the afternoon or ruin the amount of energy I get from sleep later in my life?

6 hours of sleep isn't uncommon. what you might have found is the perfect sleep timing for youself.

You wont feel tired if you don't do shit all day, but play videogames and go to school. If you were into sports however, it would be a different story.

You'll probably end up going in to sleep debt eventually.

Actually, in the US anyway, sleep deprivation is common, and it contributes to lost productivity and accidents of all sorts.

The fact that OP even brings it up suggests he isn't getting enough--sleep, that is.

Me, I go for 10-11 hours of sacktime in the winter, 7-9 in the summer. This is typical Alaskan behavior--winters tend to be hella depressing, so we either sleep a lot or drink a lot, and I quit drinking.

In summer it is daylight pretty much all the time, so we get manic.

^ mm maybe.

I would say that if the OP did this for a few weeks, and wasn't tired, and didn't notice any health differences, he's probably getting enough sleep.

I've never slept very much. I get up at nine but I don't normally go to bed until 2-3am, which drives my girlfriend mad. Even when I was working as a mechanic (which is physically much harder than most people think) I didn't need more than seven hours sleep.

My sleeping patterns are odd though. When I was at university I would routinely stay up until 7am, then sleep until 2 or 3 in the afternoon.

And Edison supposedly only slept five hours a day.

I get tired just thinking about that.

What about the guy in the James Bond movie, "Die an other day"? Where can I get one of those?
