This guy from a book i read was planning to steal some cell phones from his university. His plan is to find a girl that's talking on her phone or has it in her hand and just run by and grab it from her and run as fast as possible. He would make sure there is no guys near by that would try to be a hero and chase. Is this a good plan? What are the charges for something like this if this character is caught?

Yes to that. the guy from the story is very fast and athletic but a track girl would kill him.

This is so stupid, Some phone carriers don't have SIM cards. So they cant switch the numbers. So then you have a paperweight unless you want to have it tracked (the phone company and several apps can do this). All in all I'd say this is a BAD IDEA. :facepalm:

This is so stupid, Some phone carriers don't have SIM cards. So they cant switch the numbers. So then you have a paperweight unless you want to have it tracked (the phone company and several apps can do this). All in all I'd say this is a BAD IDEA. :facepalm:

the guy from the story would power the phone off and remove SIM card if it has one. he would then go to a location not his home and restore the phone to factory settings. Then he would sell on craigslist after holding on to it for a while. Even if the phone gets blacklisted, most people who buy from CL don't check.

You simply want an opinion and I'll give you one-

Make sure the phones are valuable and make sure your surroundings are not a threat. Like you said, there are those 'heroes' that want to save the day.

It is a silly idea but hey if its your cup of tea, best of luck let me know how it goes.. How many phones are you tryna snatch? You'd need a hat or disguise because someone will notice you in the coming days perhaps?

Running away with a purse is a lot more risky then just pocketing a phone and running.

If You have a friend that works there even better..
Just saying you can make an easy 400$ in a day
Subways are the best spots for grab and dash.

Places to do my idea:

Bus station
Subway (Mentioned already)
Mall
Public bus
Park

It's more profitable and easier then actually taking a phone.


Or if you really have no soul just fucking mug 'em and take a purse.
