The lyrics on "Umskiptar" are all taken from a Norse poem, Völuspá. For an English translation of the lyrics see the book "Sorcery And Religion In Ancient Scandinavia".
"The "Umskiptar" album is also a return-to-the-roots album for me, with a strong focus on atmosphere and wholeness rather than anything else. The vocals on this one however are more important than on any other album, with a total of 66 stanzas, some of them even repeated a few times, making up the lyrics of the album. The vocals are very important for the special atmosphere and are more important than on any other Burzum album, and more varied too – and as honest as it gets".
The concept of the album is "Umskiptar" (English = "Metamorphoses"), a deeply rooted European (i.e. Pagan) Stoic concept of changes. This concept was chosen in a world heading for a new Ice Age, and can therefore also be seen as critique of all the popular political movements of our age of lies". (V.V.)

When did he get out of prison? Black metal sucks but reading about those Norwegian bands shenanigans in the early 90s was fun. Finding your lead singer blew his head off and first thing the guy does is collect skull pieces to make a necklace. And made a stew with some brain. All the church burnings, crazy fucks.

He was released in May of 2009. Yes the members of the dark circle were definitely some crazy dudes. There's a documentary called 'Until The Light Takes Us'. It's about the black metal scene out in norway, check it out great flick.

Is this one actually black metal or is it more ambient synthesizer stuff?

Only listened to it once so far, but yeah it seemed like a spoken word album with a bit of riffs.
Heh a new Burzum album? Coincidentally I'm wearing my Det Som Engang Var shirt tonight as well...

Det Som Engang Var is my favorite Burzum album. The other ones don't do it for me all that much, though I still like them. I thought aside from a few good tracks, that Belus kinda sucked.
Until The Light Takes Us is a good documentary, except for the part with Harmony Korrine, which has nothing to do with black metal. I did like the movie Gummo, but in real life, Harmony Korrine is a complete faggot(as demonstrated in UTLTU).

Korine would be cooler had he released these movies.
Fight Harm
Korine originally intended to follow up Gummo with a short-lived project known as Fight Harm, filmed by illusionist David Blaine. It comprised footage of Korine engaging random people in actual street fights. In these he followed rules of always provoking the fight and continuing until threat of death. Korine, who often said he would die for the cinema, hoped to make a cross between a Buster Keaton vehicle and a snuff film, but after only six fights, he was hospitalized and forced to abandon the project
What Makes Pistachio Nuts?
Prior to Mister Lonely Korine had written a story about a pig named Pistachio. The film was to take place during a race war in Florida and have a boy who would saddle the pig, put adhesive on its feet, climb up walls and throw molotov-cocktails. "It was going to be my masterpiece," Korine comments. The script burnt in a fire and Korine spent $11,000 trying to recover it from his computer. He reportedly retrieved one sentence: "The speech is pointless; the finger is speechless.".
That last one sounded like a movie zoklet could get behind :muahaha:

Burzum is pretty fucking gay. You all might as well put Varg's grim and frostbitten penis in your mouths.
Dunkelheit was mediocre at best.

Not really. Filosofem at the time I think is the only thing that didn't sound exactly the same as everyone else. Which was some guy screaming like a girl and randomly beating a drum really fast. There has been "black metal" that tried to be the same since then, with slower music and vocals that sounded the same.

Nope.
Frostbitten, but not enough, to underwater opinion of Rolf.
