Not a puppy, a full grown dog.

Also, what's the price of a guide dog? (The ones trained to help blind people.)

I don't think you buy service dogs.

Go to the animal shelter and see what you can find. You're looking at a couple hundred dollars for a dog that has all its shots.

That was going to be my follow up thread, in bad ideas.

Steal 'em and resell them.

A dog can't be hard to steal or sell, and for a few hundred a dog it would be pretty good money.

Especially since they're most likely chipped.

They can be removed from the animal. Or they could just be left it in, for the next owner to worry about.

well, i dont think people would actually 'buy' a dog from another random person, unless its a purebred dog and the persons a qualified breeder. even then it would most likely be a puppy. People buy dogs from shelters, not from other people. Usually, everyday people who dont want their dogs usually just give them away.

and if youre thinking of stealing and selling guide dogs, i think its a bad idea. people dont really buy them, and theyre trained to be loyal.

if you're looking into this to profit
atleast in the US this is not going to get you any money
due to the economy people are literally giving their pets away, since they can't afford to own them anymore....
so people could basically get a dog for free...
it's really kind of sad, since so many dogs are being given to shelters, thus more dogs being euthanized...:(

yea and for service dogs people obtain them by being on waiting lists...they don't buy them

Nobody with any sense is going to buy a dog for 100's of dollars if its not registered with the akc. Even if the dog you stole was registered you wouldn't have the papers so it wouldn't matter. You can't register them because you have to get the litter owner to fill out forms. Stealing dogs is a really stupid idea.

I had Rhodesian Ridgebacks given to me by a friend. If they were registered I could have gotten $1000's of dollars for them.

Oh, and to answer OP's question. It depends entirely on breed and whether or not they're registered. I'd say just look in the classified ads in your local paper and you can probably find someone giving away a dog.

It depends where you live. People sell unregistered 'yappy dogs' (chihuahuas, yorkies, and all sorts of small mutts, oh wait, I mean 'hybrids' like yorkipoos, pomchis, pomapoos, etc...) and 'guard dogs' (rottweilers, pit bulls, dobermans, german shepherds) for hundreds of dollars. 99% of the time, the puppies have never been to the vet, and half the time, the parents haven't either.

There are usually tons of ads giving away puppies and grown dogs in my local paper.

I always wonder why someone would pay for a mutt or an unregistered dog when there are so many dogs in shelters.

What if I steal rare dogs? (are there rare dogs?)

Surely I could forge the registration papers or whatever they have.

that could work. youd just be a dognapper/illegal pet trader in that case. remember, youll need a good customer base

As other people have said, you can't really buy a guide dog.But for trivias sake,a guide dog is worth about £30,000!

Holy crapola. I want one! Why can't you buy guide dogs though?

Because they're specifically trained their entire life to do one thing and one thing only and that's to guide the blind.

There's not allot of trainers so there's a limited supply that goes out yearly to the people that need them not the people that want them.

And in response to stealing a dog if I caught anyone trying to steal my dog it's the last thing they would do.
Besides my dog being trained not to let people get close to him without the go ahead from me or my family I'd stab any fuck that thought it would be a bright idea to try to unchain him and walk off with him.

I care for my dog more than I do most of my family so think wisely before stealing one.

As for the price of a farm dog fifty dollars for puppies or a couple hundred if in a pet store to a thousand + for purebreds.

Get friendly with farmers. My cousin has offered me a free jack russell once he gets the bitches laid.
