I have a 1984 Honda Accord with a 5 speed standard in it. Years ago the clutch or transmission went on it(i am not exactly sure what happened). Anyways, when it died on me, the car seemed to loose all power and could barely get moving. I could barely climb small hills and eventually could not move at all. Now when i play with it, it still starts and runs but when put into gear it will not move. When the clutch is not pressed down, the gearshift can move freely though the gears but the car will not move. It is like the clutch is not even there. I am wondering if there is something wrong with the clutch cable or clutch. I took the clutch cover off and it seemed to look ok, not that i really know what to look for. I am hoping someone has a solution to this problem as i would like to fix it and use it as a rally/race car to smash up with my friends.

Sounds defiantly like clutch problems, you need to check if pressing the clutch pedal actually moves the clutch, keep the cover off and have some one press the pedal if it doesn't move you should check the clutch booster cylinder if that car has one, if it doesn't check all cables. What you experienced the first time was defiantly clutch failure. If the engine is running and you are able to move through the gears means your are in constant neutral and the clutch is so gone its no longer making contact with the flywheel meaning no power to the transmission. It may need readjustment a new clutch or fluid in the booster.

These are actually quite sought after in the UK.
