Hi.

I actually made a very similar post but couldn't find it. Anyway, is there any food that is very filling, but is low on calorie/fat..etc? I feel hungry all the time so I want to eat something but I am trying to lose weight too.

Also, I remember back in junior high school my friend was this huge sack of fat, so her parents bought her this weight-loss kit type of thing. What it was is these cookie/wafer like things that you eat, and they fill you right up so you don't feel hungry anymore. Does anybody know if stores in Canada sell this?

Thanks

Pasta.

Extra virgin olive oil, garlic, olives.

Cheap, tasty, healthy.

Go crazy.

hmm.

Thanks for the advice but isn't pasta made of carbohydrates and these are quite high in calorie?

most foods that fill you up are quite high in carbs. if you want to avoid those types of foods i would recommend you eat a diet high in fresh fruit an veg. all the sugars an vitamins in the fruit an veg should help you feel full.

Ramen noodles. High in sodium, but filling and without much calories!

Cottage cheese. It's good for you. I've seen people put tomatoes in it or oranges, but personaly i get town house crackers or something of the sort and eat cottage cheese and crackers. 8 crackers and a bite or two of cottage cheese per cracker is only like 100-200 cal. It fills you up surprisingly well too.

Rice is pretty good for filling you up, though it is a little bland without lots of additions.

careful about white rice, its higher gycemic index would result in hunger not long later

high fibre things are good, so lots of greens.

though for a snack, popcorn is a good choice. its mainly air, and it will look like you have a lot, but its not. two tablespoons of raw kernels will make a soup bowls worth.

yes it has carbs, but its also got a lot of indigestible fibre, which is good if youre counting calories. of course, butter is very high in calories, so add that if you wish. usually, i use use salt. it has zero calories (but still, it aint good for ya)

Not necessarily low on calories, but two packs of ramen and a quart of milk mixed with whey protein is really fucking easy.

Fruits and Veggies coupled with exercise

Fruit and Veg is predominantly water. You want things that will litterally FILL your stomach ie. large foods. But ones that don't contain a lot of anything. Pasta is entirely carbs as you said and more so than fruit and veg.

FRUIT AND VEG!

Going with the fruit and veg. theme, lettus is always good. as was said, it's mainly water. salads are good for you with the least possible amount of any toppings. you add toppings you add cal. Lettus is filling and won't break a diet.

Lettuce(and celery) actually takes more calories to burn than it has.

I think that it is also important to take legumes into consideration as well.

Raw cabbage. Due to its high fibre content it fills you up ultra quick. Choose the red variety for a bit more vitamins.

come on bitches lets not start quoting atkins.

I thought it was common knowledge that carbs will fuck you up if you dont burn it via exercise for energy.

If you wanna fell "filled up" drink some fucking water it has 0 calories.

I think she wanted eat something though.

On the other hand, this does work.

my friend went from 225lbs to 135lbs from good diet and excercise. He said it was the fruits and veggies + exercise.

YOU CAN DO IT~

Orange juice protein shake usually works for me.

Also:

-Pasta w/ tomato sauce
-Refried bean burrito
-Fried rice
-Pizza

Yeah, I guess the carb loadout is pretty high on those.

That's true, but the only thing that would help him is stims. So only about half the time would he have been loosing weight.

Heh. This is funny, really. Theres all these people recommending pasta/veges/other-carby-stuff, for food that will fill you up. And theyre all waaaaay off. Fruit and veges may be excellent foods, but they wont fill you up very well unless you eat a huge amount.

Eat fatty foods. Preferably as low in polyunsaturated as you can get. Also preferably low-carb, since a high fat AND high carb diet is what makes you put on weight. And cut the fuck down on processed shit.

multi-grain bread and whole wheat pasta is very fucking filling. It is high in carbs but unless you sit on your ass all day, eat up :)

Haha i could have predicted that exact response.

Carbs arent gonna do shit at all if you exercise 30mins-1hour a day (any exercise).

I would never reccomend eating fatty foods intentionally; because it is not human nature to moderate and due to the sense gratifying nature of fatty foods one is likely to consume the daily intake of fat and probably more especially considering the attraction of proccessed fatty foods.

I figure if i make an effort to be healthy and not eat fatty foods i will fuck up half the time, which isnt as bad as having a shit diet all the time.

P.S WAN- Make a green salad with bits of feta and a little bit of short grained pasta on top with vinnegerette= win

So that means I am recommending eating eggs, nuts, fatty cuts of meat and possibly cheese. (Fruits and veges make up an important part of your diet, but they wont be what fills you up.)

darkmage, i am going to have to disagree with your recommendation of eating fatty cuts of meat. while these cuts will fill you up the op is also concerned with calories. and fatty cuts of meat are chock full of calories.

everything else you recommended is fine by me though.

I don't see why you don't eat 3 healthy meals and then snack inbetween with vegetables. Vegetables you CAN eat shit loads of, they have very small amounts of calories. This means that you can literally FEEL full. Eating fats and proteins will infact give you more energy, but if you eat enough to actually fill up your stomach, than you will have eat 16x the amount of pro/lip than you should have. You want things that will make you feel full, but not give you much energy. That way you can get your recommended amount of energy, and eat twice as much.
