Thinking of growing my own bud, just for the sake of growing my own bud.

Just for personal use. I don't really find it practical to hook up a streetlight in a closet, so I am wondering what kind of light I could plug into a traditional outlet. I would use miracle grow with the high middle number, and use a wal mart box fan for venilation, and a humidifier, and keep temps at 70 degrees. I know to do the 12 light, 12 dark when flowering. I plan on buying all female dank seeds off line, since I want some bomb shit, that is why I want to grow, you can't find dank that easy around here, I used to get it from Tempe.

So what tips do you have?

Grow weed inside a streetlamp .. just a little autoflowering strain, all you'd have to do is splice into the connection, depending on the light you'd already have a timer so just put in a CFL inside the body down at the bottom and a pot of soil with your plant .. would probably make shitty weed ..

I wouldn't be growing it on my own then unless you've got a really sick set-up. And experience. Just buy it. Someone has good quality stuff; you just don't know them.

Check your state laws before you think of growing. If you are in Oklahoma for instance, its 2 years to life for cultivating. I would not grow if I were you unless you live above Rhode Island, up north.

I grew in MD, they used infrared, and bam, swat team stormed my house. I was facing 11 years in jail for cultivation, distribution, and possession, plus paraphenelia counts. Luckily I am still here, I got out of jail time because I was going to litigate with the swat team for throwing a flash grenade through my window that almost killed my cat.

They dropped everything but cultivation, and I got 1.5 years suspended, and 2 years of supervised probation. Had they not fucked up, I would be in jail for up to 11 years.

I didn't tell anyone about it, but they managed to find out through illegal means. So, if you are in a red or purple state don't do it.

Anyways, to your question, buy a 400 watt system online with a prepaid visa card and have it delivered to someone you trust out of the area. Get the 2 bulbs, one being high pressure sodium, and the other metal halide.

Use the metal halide bulb while they are sprouting, that spectrum will help them grow faster. Switch to high pressure sodium when you want them to start budding, and change the lighting cycle at the same time.

Get growth hormones, and follow the instructions carefully, and get a good soil without too much nitrogen and phosphorus or you can stunt or kill your plants.

When growing, you have to have a set schedule, lights must go on and off at certain intervals, you need to water every other day at a certain time, once a day when they start to bud.

Next grow a chamber for your plants if you have your own house like I did, make a basic box with 2 sides open and a hole on the top for the lights to be anchored on. Get two fans, and put one on each side, with one pushing air in, and the other pushing air out.

Get the venting system for your lights, and get aluminum tubing to transfer the heat to someplace else in the house, and keep a thermometer in the grow room.

Thats just some basics, if you need more info, google it.

But if you're just growing a few plants then use CFL's, and also not as suspicious, sure you might not get as brilliant bud but much lower chance of getting caught ..

I looked at the charts of my electrical use before and after I started, and the 400 watts may have added an extra 5 dollars a month. If you want a good quality yield, don't skimp on the lights. HPS is a must, and metal halide with help them mature faster and better.

Just turn off lights when your not in the room, televisions and such, and you won't even notice a difference in your electric bill.

wyoming and alaska are very grow friendly. vermont is not ironicly. how'd the infrared give you away? didn't seal it up so hot? your house is always suposed to be somewhat hot...

most grow lights will come with a ballast, thats a little box that hooks to you outlet, well not so little depending.

Everyone I knows just stops using their washer/dryer when growing among other things, if you unplug a freezer where are you going to put everything thats in it anyway?

even then as long as your not trying to hide it form someone you live with you should be ok with a half dozen or so plants.

I would never grow in my house. Find an abandon run down house that's not in the middle of your town or anything. Preferably one with a basement. Then steal a few generators to keep grow lights, you can also convert some gas generators to solar power if you google it to save some gas money. Not that I'm doing that or anything, in all honesty the idea just came to me so I have no idea if it would work I really didn't think it through.
