I want to play my PS3 on my PC monitor. What I am going to do is as follows, but I'm not sure if it will work.

First off, my monitor has no HDMI input, just one VGA, and one DVI-D. My PS3 has HDMI output and RCA output.

I am going to either buy one of these: http://cgi.ebay.com/PS3-or-Xbox-to-PC-Monitor-HDMI-DVI-Cable-6ft-New_W0QQitemZ150320951626QQcmdZViewItem#ShippingPa yment

Or one of these: http://www.pccables.com/70717.htm

Then either hook the HDMI-DVI or the RCA-VGA into my monitor, and it should display, correct? Oh, and will the HDMI-DVI work even though the input is DVI-D?

The one from PC Cables won't work - that's only for the few Dell laptops which use the not connected pins of the VGA port to transmit composite video. This isn't standard as normally only VGA is output from a VGA socket. If you plug it into a non-dell monitor socket, it won't work.

The one from ebay will work fine though.

Ahh, thank you very much. It's even cheaper and gold plated.

Also, I will have no sound, correct?

Correct - you'll need to hook up a cable from the audio outputs of the PS3 into the RCA input of the TV.

HDMI is capable of carrying audio, but no type of DVI can. You'll therefore not get any sound across.

Well, I was thinking hooking it into my amp for surround sound. But thanks for all the info.
