So i want to write a book on people who would steal school library books and sell them elsewhere for profit.
Now i want to know how to write this story on my book so i want to know.
How can somebody successfully accomplish this mission. Who had experience with this and willing to share some info?

One of my characters went to the school library today and took a pic of what he thinks is the security tag on them but he is not sure about this:

IF my characters would take those thing out that seem to be like Radio transmitting tags used to set the alarm off at the exit, would they be good to go.
Also my character went ahead and rented a book to see what would happen and he said the man at the register didn't do anything to the book but just scanned it and he was good to go. The alarms didn't go off?

Enlighten me at this plz because i am lost. Thanx

Normally for RFID security strips and such it will appear nothing is done to the item (in this case a book). But, the cashier/librarian/whatever is really swiping it over a demagnetizer. I think that's how it works at least.

Anyway, I've never read a book like the one you are describing. I have seem them online though. I'll find one for you later tonight if you have no luck (I have to go to work soon). At Barnes and Noble's they stick RFID stickers (without the paper peeled off so they don't stick to the pages) on random pages (sometimes more than one per book).

There's like a million forms of ID you can use to get a library card, couldn't you just use a fake to get one? Then check out whatever the fuck you want and never bring it back.

Just make a "magic bag" and put the books in there. The alarm won't go off if you made it right.

And this would be SO easy to pull in a library. No LP's all up in your grill.

Every time someone mentions magic bag someone else mentions the problems with it.

I believe it used to work but no longer does. This is just what I think after reading all these threads.

Just from what I've read of various people attempting them.

Stealing from a library. How low can you go? Bookstores are supposedly easy enough, don't be a bitch.

How is it any worse to take from a library than any other place? I'm not siding either way. You people just need to put up some facts.

At the Main Berkeley library they use RFID tags, that makes it easy to steal stuff(I haven't). In Oakland I think they have magnetic strips in the spine of the book, don't know how to get around that(google).
