So, I was thinking about my fruit basket, and decided I would like to try making an automatic mister to keep on my kitchen counter. What I have in mind is some sort of ellipsoidal-type basket, with a top bar(or whatever the term might be) to house the mist line.

Here's what I'm stuck on:

- Shaping the basket. I would like to make the basket(and the overhead mist line housing) using stainless steel, but I have no idea how to shape metal. Are there generally businesses around that would provide this type of service?

- The timer. I know I'm basically looking at some type of timer connected to a water solenoid valve, but I have no idea what type. Perhaps, solenoid valves taken off old dishwashers or washers would already include such a timer?

I can't really explain why the idea of a home produce mister interests me, but I'd like to try making one, nonetheless. Help?

EDIT: For obvious reasons, I would prefer this unit to be self-contained.

You can buy timers that connect straight to an open faucet and supply water between the hours you set, and you can also buy mister nozzles for about 15cents each. All you need is short bit of hose to go between timer and a capped off reducer junction, and then the thin mister hose off the reducer junction. Then you put in your mister nozzle/s and way you go - control the pressure of the water via the tap on the faucet.

look at the sprinkler supplies at your local home improvement store. That crap is surprisingly cheap.
