Im not sure if this is already common knowledge to you guys, but ill post it anyway because it might help someone.

I work in a hardware store here in the UK, and ive learnt alot about the various security tags.

This is about the ''soft tags'' (RFID tags) eg -
http://www.bikudo.com/photo_stock/723430.jpg

Firstly, these tags will not work if they are attached to a metal surface. Alot of staff in the shop where i work are daft, and are not even aware of this, i often see these tags directly on metal in many stores. This leads me to believe that it is not widley known about this. But i can GUARANTEE you that these tags will not work if stuck to a metal surface.

Also, the soft tags will not work if bent. ie, around the side of a package. That is the best way i can describe it.

I hope this will be of help to some. If not and i am posting common knowledge, sorry, please go softly on me :)

How about the rfid strips? The rectangular ones that stick up a bit and not completely flat.

These work on the same principles, so the same applies.

Know anything about the white plastic ones with the 3-4 metal strips in them?

isn't the item pictured just a UPC barcode?

Are we talking about the flat sticker that looks like a micro-chip? I can't remember the name right now I'm super tired.

He's talking about the stickers that have a barcode on them, and also underneath is the micro chip looking thing.

So when you put the sticker on a metal surface, does it just short out the tag? If so, I doubt the same thing works for those plastic things with the strips in them, because on those there is a layer of plastic seperating the metal strips, and the would-be metal surface
