The title basically sums it for you.

Right now i have a small 4 thousand song music library and my goal is to basically tripple that within a month.
I do not want to use limewire or any free site like that because i always find shit quality music, i'm looking for high quality.
So what is the best program to get?

google youtube mp3 converter. Free, and the quality of music you get matches the quality of the vid.

Youtube is very bad quality audio. It's 64kbps mono with a 22khz sampling rate, as opposed to 320kbps 44.1khz for a good quality MP3.

If you want high quality music, use torrents. They'll be better quality that most paid for download site somewhat ironically... Search for the name of the album you want followed by "torrent lossless". That will return all the torrents which aren't compressed MP3s but are lossless CD quality tracks. Bear in mind each track is about 30mb though.

However, unless you have a high-end speaker system (I'm not talking about some Logitech crap here), you'll be hard pressed to tell the difference between lossless and 320kbps MP3. Those are a much more sensible file size too.

Care to help a noob out?

First download a torrent client such as BitTorrent or Vuze (I use Vuze), or just google torrent clients and have a look around. Install it.

Next, go to http://www.torrentz.com - search for whatever you want, to make sure that you get the best download check the number of seeders and peers/leachers. High = good. Low = slow downloads, pauses, etc.

Once you've searched for the torrent, download it...double-click should open with the torrent client which you install, if not, open with it.

For more info about torrents check out http://torrentz.net which gives an intro.

If you have a router and are behind a firewall software, you may (most probably) need to forward ports for the best speeds when downloading. I started with Vuze, back then it was called Azureus, I recommend it, it has it's own Wiki page for explaining things.

Note: I just read all that and it sounds complicated, but it's not. I'm too fucking lazy right now, so I'm assuming you have atleast some knowledge of all this. Usually when I explain things, I tend to assume the person has no knowledge whatsoever, and my post ends up being a noob-friendly documentation :p

I was all about some Azureus, but when they switched it to Vuze and added all that shit, I had to switch to uTorrent.

Dude... Fuck monthly fees. Download utorrent (http://www.utorrent.com) and go to The Pirate Bay (http://thepiratebay.org), and type "<band name>" "discography." Or album, or whatever. You can usually find whole discographies of bands with mp3's of 320 kbps bitrate or higher, and if you're really crazy you can find all kinds of shit in lossless FLAC format.

You should buy band merch/CD's/go to concerts for the bands you like though, to justify getting all their music for free.

This is also good info.

Glad you're enlightened. Torrents can be dangerous to your hard drive's free space. :D
