So I've been using FL Studio 4 for years and years now, and TBH, I'm a bit bored of it. That and it keeps corrupting my files.
I used to use Jeskola Buzz, and I wait with anticipation for a stable release of the new version, but convoluted to use, I love the synths and effects, but it lacks a nice piano roll and decent drum machines/drum samplers.
I'm getting Ableton Live, can anyone recommend anything else? Preferably something 'easy to use', with a good drum machines/drum triggers/drum samplers, and some nice synths. Ability to use buzz machines in them would be a bonus.

logic, reason, and cubase all have good softsynths and drum machines. logic only works with mac though and you can't record directly into reason. However, you can run ableton and reason in rewire mode with cubase and logic so you're pretty much combining two programs.

Ableton is really good, you'll like it pretty much for sure. I've been liking Renoise lately, however it is a tracker (meaning no piano roll).

Assuming you downloaded it, that would be the reason for corruptions. and try acid, its a lot better and more organic. and you can always download some VST's

Reason 4.0
you can rewire it into FL too.
reason is my favorite sequencer (especially good for automation and drum editing)

Renoise is actually pretty awesome if you get to know it a bit.
(it's easy to learn.)
Check it out. :bluecool:

Yeah I like how in trackers every pattern is right in front of you, even if you have to look at it differently.
I'm not sure how you get "bored of" a DAW. If you're bored of a DAW, you're bored of making music. This isn't Warcraft or something.
If you're looking for a different piece of software, Ableton Live is solid, and not too expensive (I think only $250 if you're a student). Logic is $150, but you need a Mac for it.

Unless there was some huge update over the last few years, Acid is terrible.

Propellerheads is coming out with Record, which is basically a tack-on multitrack.

If price is a factor, know that Renoise is like 70 bucks.

It's probably mainly a visual/routine thing. I need something that feels different, that has a learning curve, that looks different, etc etc.

What's wrong with acid?

To be fair, the last time I used it was like Acid 4 or something back in 2004ish. To me it just seemed like a fancy way to make loop-based music, like dropping in some construction kits and going at it.
Don't know how it is now, but I rarely see it being used, unless I'm in a Sony-pushed studio.

LOL @ that bullshit.
Try buying one of the older model Roland grooveboxes and use that instead. Those programs are kiddy shit.
