America needs a militia, so that our citizens are prepared in case of an emergency. If the government is harming its citizens, the citizens should be able to stand up and fight for what they believe in. After all, that's how America was founded.
If the government won't regulate a militia, then we need to make one. We need to train our neighbors on how to defend themselves, so that when the shit hits the fan, they can fight.

Hopefully, if a situation got to the point where the government literally was harming it's citizens, a revolution undertaken by civilians would be backed by our own armed forces. Since everyone who joins the armed forces takes an oath to defend the constitution of America.

We have a militia. They're called Hillbillies and they're just the opposite of your average mouthy-ass redneck with a 101-year-old shotgun and no nuts to shoot it at another human-being. You can find many of these noble warriors in the mountains of West Virginia, or pretty much every part of Tennessee - Hell I wouldn't even doubt Georgia's got a brigade or two.
They're wolf-like predators with a pack mentality and an undying love of grandpa's medicine. These packs, known as "Clans" will rally at a moment's notice to arms and attack anyone that dares threaten one of their own. The most notorious of the clans being the Hatfields and McCoys, whose gruesome exploits put the entire state of West Virginia on its toes.
Hillbilly youth are given their birthright upon reaching the age of ascension (Age 3). The birthright, consisting of a .45 Colt Peacemaker for males and a .38 snubnose for females is the clan's appointment of trust to the "young'in" that they will defend their clan to their last drop of 'shine in their jug.

In all seriousness, those motherfuckers ARE a militia. Don't piss off an Appalachian. :poke:

If the government of this country becomes oppressive and violent towards it's citizens(more so than it already is) we are fucked. You might be able to inflict a small number of casualties or escape to the countryside for a while, but in the end a UAV will probably drop some type of guided munition on your head. Get an education and do your best to change the system from within.

Then the militia works to help people escape to Canada.

That's a much better idea. Hopefully Canada would remain a safe haven.

My suggestion would be to keep the militia very secret because I have a feeling if the FBI heard about a group of guys not in the military training for war they would assume you all were terrorists and have you all arrested. (things have gotten better though, under the Bush admin you all would have been labeled "enemy combatants" and would effectivly be void of all human rights.)

I completely agree, education is paramount. Even better would to change the system from with in. Couldn't imagine what the possibilities would be if we got some one who was not bought and paid for.
