View Full Version : To get more voters out
I was wondering if this was possible: In order to get more Americans to go out and vote, a fast food franchise/s can sponsor election day, giving anyone who votes a free burger or something, in exchange for a tax deduction from the government.

Republicans would never allow it. The ghetto would arrive in force and we all know how they vote. And, sadly enough, I could see this working among certain demographics.

You just made me grimace at my own idea
Maybe some day they will bring back the literacy test.

starbucks did it, then almost got sued because it's vote buying.

Most of the ghetto are convicted felons, so they can't vote anyway.

I think Baskin Robbins or Ben & Jerry's or someone gave free ice cream to anybody with an "I Voted" sticker on.

Who tried to sue them? That is stupid because they weren't supporting any candidate in particular.

How about compulsary voting? If you don't vote, you get fined. We have it in Australia. You end up with a lot more parties in the race, a %100 voter turn out and the general population seems to pay at least a little bit more attention to the person they are voting for's policies.

Because the government shouldn't be able to force people to do anything. Except for certain activities that actually do infringe on the rights of others (like rape, murder, theft, etc.).

I see irony is not lost in you.
I would recommend fixing the voting system in this country before we start giving tax credits to voters. Our current system is already completely overwhelmed with the depressingly low voter turnouts.

I knew someone was going to say something lol.

Why do people need incentive to vote? If they don't see how it's important to vote, then it's probably a good thing that they don't. They are likely going to vote for whatever, without putting any real thought into it.
