Since our entire political system is fucked on nearly every level, it seems like which ever way you vote we're stuck in the shit
What are you going to do?
Is there any realistic best option?

I only wish we had a pro-reason party like the BNP here in the USA. Everything here is a fringe group.

That's a lot of faggots in the UK then. A lot of people I've spoke to are simply voting for them because they are sick of labour and their empty promises, not to mention they agree with most of the policies.

Lib Dems are one of the few parties that don't rely on moral panics, cheap mudslinging and scapegoating to get their point across.
Their leadership is often the mess and they need a kick up their arse but one can only expect so much from a party that hasn't been in power since the 1920s. Generally though, they've got their ideas together better than the other two heavy hitters. Anything beneath them is mostly negligible. The BNP are a joke and should get no more than 1% of the vote. Which is good because Nick Griffin is an uncharismatic prick who bullshits his way around.

The people who vote for BNP are generally absolute fools who don't understand shit about anything.
That's not a dig about the party, but the people who vote for them tend to do so for the wrong reasons.

Even if the BNP do succeed in these elections there is not a fookin chance in hell they'll emerge as some sort of presence in British politics beyond a sideshow. Say Nick Griffin wins a seat: when was the last time you heard a speech by any MEP? (Except that one Tory recently lambasting Brown). I can only name one MEP, and that's only because he went to my secondary school.
Look at the Lib Dems - they're a serious, mainstream party with lots of funding, an illustrious history and a broad base of support in a country which, Lib and Lab added together, probably has a centre-progressive majority. Yet because of First Past The Post they'll never get anywhere. They could surpass Labour by several percentage points nationwide in the next election but gain a whole lot less seats (read this article http://www.craigmurray.org.uk/archives/2009/06/we_need_proport.html).
The two major parties will restructure, reemerge and consolidate, and people will look back on this whole European elections fiasco as a political aberration, the time when the BNP bucked the vote somewhat due to a unique set of circumstances. While I dislike the BNP and don't want them to do well in any circumstances on the grounds that they're leadership are a bunch of neo-nazis. The electoral system is absolutely rotten, but won't change until turnout dips below 45% or there's a hung parliament.

What the fuck are you talking about. I don't have to understand the "current state of British politics" to know they won't get 1 percent of the vote. (which is all I said, so calm down elizabeth). Even despite their recent popularity, they still only got 0.7 percent of the vote in the last election. Why the fuck do I need to be all knowledgeable in the area of British politics to make an educated guess they won't do well.
I don't know how or why you inferred all that shit about wikipedia and ignorance about the British political system. if you relax and stop being so tense it'll be easier to take that giant stick out of your ass.

I just voted for Lib Dems. The whole thing about voting BNP to spite the major parties is the most ridiculous logic I've ever heard - you know there are other small parties that aren't fascists.
Edit: And the European elections are arguably almost as important as the general elections - certainly more important than local elections - since most laws being passed come from EU directives.

Or, in other words... "Why do I need to understand a situation to make an educated guess about its likely outcome?". Excellent question, isn't pulling drivel out of your ass and calling it "educated" so much easier than actually knowing what the fuck you're talking about?
The real problem here is that you're a dumbfuck masquerading as an intelligent community leader, Wikifucius. There are lots of things you need to be educated about because most of the time you just float around like a stunned cunt, spewing utter shite, sorry, "educated guesses", about the place. The BNP have got far beyond 1% (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1191424/March-extremists-BNP-wins-seat-European-Parliament-Labour-crash.html) of the overall vote, but I guess only an uneducated fool like me would have expected such a surprising result.

I didn't vote, for a moment I considered voting the Northern League(Lega Nord) only because they support lax hunting laws and the right of home owners to use lethal force on intruders, but all their anti-immigration/Islam-bashing rethoric is quite annoying.
They got plenty of votes anyway, so I think spending my sunday getting pissed in the garden was the best decision afterall.

haha, try harder. That only took 4 days and the knowledge of the outcome of the election. Seriously, what the fuck is your problem. I don't masquerade as an "intelligent community leader" what the fuck? Stop taking the internet so seriously, I don't care if you think im dull or stupid, you a fucking cunt anyways. Seriously cry more you big baby oh no I thought the BNP would do badly in the election based on previous election results and that makes me so sad I'm going to bitch and moan about it 4 days after the I made the post.
Seriously, all you ever seem to do is cry about how I gleam my knowledge from wikipedia. Shut the fuck up, I read and copied 1 fucking line about irish people wearing quilts months ago and your vagina is still bleeding? Give me a fucking break.
Also, you don't have to be an authority on the fucking subject to have an opinion. I really don't fucking give a shit. I have many opinions and yes generally speaking reading the wikipedia page is a great place to start. Boohoo I'm not a fucking historian fucking genius like you, you only read hardcover encyclopedias and research papers written by nobel prize winners and you're going to complain about it every chance you get.

Because I trust parties that lay out their views-especially there where you can choose a party that is closest to your views/etc instead of voting for "people" which ends up in social bullshit. then again arguably parties does that too. It's easier for smalller parties, something the US needs.

I'm aware that the Islamification of Europe is a major threat to Western civilization, however the harsh and sometimes stupid and low level rethoric they use is not the right answer.
I'm all for setting up a points system for immigration like they have in Australia or Canada, restricting access only to those holding needed skills and qualifications.
What I said in my post is that I have a problem with the way they express their message not with the message itself, their political platform is quite decent what I dislike is the foul mouthed drunken farmer rethoric.

No.
You vote for a party, and a bunch of shady people get in to represent you that you don't know anything about - and they don't give a shit either.
Also, it's very often not about the ideas and beliefs, but about the people that stand behind them.

The party submits a list of representatives. It can't be as bad as how appointments are made re. POTUS-or how lobbyists can get away with things in the US, etc.
Not to mention the whole annoying 'compromise' bullshit. At least you can choose parties that cater to you.
Not to mention how easy it is to throw them out of office.
Also, it's very often not about the ideas and beliefs, but about the people that stand behind them.
The same applies to the US. But here you have to hide your views to be mainstream and to pander to the majority that are "moderate" + bullshitting re. that. There you can take a stand on what you believe in..
