That just makes me wonder again. Why are those huge rocks even there? Why are they flying around, lifeless, without anyone to observe them?

I mean, life on Earth was just a coincidence, and it's insignificant in the big scale anyway.

Why? Why these laws? Why it all exists? It might just as well have not existed. The Universe, anything. What difference would that have made? None. Yet, we have these huge objects flying around, obeying certain laws.

Is there any reason? Or does the Universe exist for no reason at all? Had it not existed - had nothing existed - no physical laws, no chemical laws, nothing - the result would have been the same. It's all pointless, yet it's there. And it's impressive - to us. Without us to see it, none of it matters. Easy to put Earth as the meaningful center of the Universe. Without us, without life, there would have been no meaning, since nobody but us cares.

And after we're gone? Does time go at the same rate as before? Or surely, without anyone to observe it, it will go infinitely fast, till a new observer is born? Does it matter? Are we a mistake, that will be eventually corrected by the Universe? A mistake, that gives the Universe some meaning, gives it's existence some excuse?

What a weird world we live in.

And this is only the largest known star. There's bound to be larger ones. I don't know the physical/theoretical limitations of star sizes though, so for all I know Canis Majoris might be near the limit.

Any physics geeks care to shed some light on the matter?

no, god created the world...

shut the fuck up!!!

yea, that shit blows my fucking mind how insignificant we are. I still refuse to believe with the universe being as infinite as it is that we are the only ones out there.

Excellent, really helps to express just how worthless everything anyone cares about is. And these stars all from our own galaxy, there are still an unimaginable number never seen before. Now if only there was one to show just how short the human life really is.

Quick question, are all the planets on the same level, like a disc or are they all over the place out there?

Is the Universe worth anything? If it all collapsed on itself somehow and the Universe ceased to exist tomorrow, what difference would it make? Without an observer, nothing matters. Yet matter existed, along with the laws that govern this matter. Why? That's the question I would really like to know the answer to.

The whole Universe could just be the space in some creature's cell.

This, or weather our Universe exists in a meta-universe (akin to a Universe that we simulate on a super-computer exists in a meta-universe that is our Universe) we can never find out.

I think about sometimess, but we're never gonna know so whats the point to thinking about it. Our lives will be over in a flash, no sense to waste part of our breif pointless time here thinkin aobut it, but it's still hard not to.

I was thinking at the end it was gonna be like "My dick > The earth"

It's all about trying to find some meaning to our meaningless existences. In the early days, people came up with religion for this reason, but religion isn't the truth.

All of planets orbit on nearly the same plane. Nothing is exact, but all of the planets are pretty much "on the same level" with the exception of Pluto, but apparently that's not a planet anymore. You might also be interested to know that the planets do not have circular orbits, but rather elliptical orbits, although the orbits are not very eccentric and for most planets both foci lie within the sun.

This link (http://www.solarevents.com/articles/solar-system/diagram-of-solar-system) provides some diagrams and explanations about the nature of planetary orbits.

Why did they end up being on the same plane? Why not just random angles?

Believe it or not, the scientific community is not sure exactly what matter is. Matter is something with both mass and volume, but we are still unsure about the nature of mass. We can break up matter into molecules, molecules into atoms, atoms into subatomic particles. It goes on and on until eventually we reach bosons. The problem with bosons is that they are all massless. So if massive matter is made up of massless particles, where does the mass come from? The theoretical Higgs boson is the particle which is believed to create mass in matter, but its existence has yet to be proved. So for all that we think we know, we still don't even understand the composition of matter. We will never understand the "why" or even if there is a reason. It's unfortunate.
