What would you nominate as the least intuitive control layout in a game? I nominate the one in EA's Skate. Holy shit it's terrible, every comand is allocated to exactly the wrong button, and it's extremely clumsy in some combnations. It's just so fucked.

Skate is the best skating game that has ever been and I would say it has one the most innovative control layouts in a game.

I'm sure you played the demo for 10 seconds, skipped the tutorial, tried to play it like tony hawk and sucked majorly.

Once you get the controls down and see how easy and responsive it is you'll ask yourself why they didn't make a skating game like Skate years ago.

If you suck at Skate it's because you don't understand simple physics, that's all that game is. If you don't have enough speed, hit a ramp at the wrong angle or approach a rail from an awkward position, you're not going to land it.

Edit:As for the subject I would have to say Rising Honor for Ps2. It was a cool fighter and I enjoyed using the analog sticks for battle but I just wish they would have added actions to the buttons, it would have made that game much more than what it was.

If there's one thing I can't stand it's skater culture, and I found that Skate game to be awash with the bullshit and pretty damn boring to boot, but I don't remember having any trouble with the controls.

Anyway, I nominate Too Human. It's cool they tried something different, but I felt the stick combat was cumbersome and counter-intuitive.

You're an arrogant fucken jackarse, but it's no skin off my back.

I played 2.5 hours of Career mode, and why the fuck would I skip the tutorial? The control scheme doesn't make sense and sucks, as does the camera view, character personalisation is unbeatable except for the human itself (what the fuck, you have to be a creep of a 37year old man) which is pretty poor, and it can get slightly frustrating to a boring degree. The physics are acceptable (biggest difference is in ginding - way better than the 'magnetic rails' & shit in Tony Hawks) but is still underdeveloped.

It's good for a skate game, but the control layout is still the least intuitive of any game I've ever played.

Please elaborate on how the controls "don't make sense".
To ollie, you pull back and flick forward, because in real life you flick your front foot forward.
Kickflip involves flicking off to the side, sort of like the game, amirite?
Shuvits have your back foot turning.

If anything, the game does a better job of mapping tricks than your faggot ass Tony Hawk games. And thus, I ask you: explain what doesn't make sense about the controls, and how YOU would improve them. Because I'm sure the X button is a more realistic approach to the ollie than flicking the joystick forward, right?

Alone in the Dark had awful controls.

Dino Crisis. Pretty much the same control scheme as the Resident Evil games, but they somehow managed to make it worse.

Resident evil. As much as I love the games, you control as if you are a tank that needs to stop to turn around. They fixed it for 4, but I almost wish they hadn't. Not beinga ble to control your character well added to the fear of slow zombies, because it was hard to avoid them sometimes.

I feel you, the controls became second nature after a while but at first you said to yourself "What the fuck!". I remember playing through that game on single player and I'd hop over to Goldeneye for multiplayer with friends and get demolished.
