Ok...I want a tattoo, anywhere but my face/chest/stomach/back/upper theighs.
I have no idea what I want, besides I don't want it to be a copy of anyone elses...but I can't draw either.
How does BI suggest I permanently mark my body? Or at least help me find a way to find something I can take and bend to my liking.

God I'm glad you posted this in bad ideas and not holes and ink...
Well if you have a sharp kitchen knife and some India ink you could always try some Cut and Rub:)

I suggest trying to find soemthing in your life, or something about yourself that's very important to who you are as an individual, whether it be spiritual, an important event, a dream or a goal, or simply just something that can define you as you.
Look up artist's work on tattoos, their different styles and how they combine different elements into their finished work and find aspects of them that you like.
Draw out some ideas, or if you can't draw, print off some images of things you want to incorporate into a tattoo and go to a few different artists to tell them your ideas and what you want. Depending on how well you express yourself, a good artist can usually take what you've brought in or said to them and turn it into something unique and personalized to your tastes.
Good luck.
Thank you!
I just know I really want a tattoo...I just can't think of what will suit me best, that's the big thing really. I'm trying to look at sites..but my dialup sucks.

No problem, it's better to take a long time deciding what you want than to go out and get a piece of flash done up on your arm.
I don't know if it will help, but my tattoos include a memorial for my first daughter with her name and birth/death date over my heart, a kiwi bird with the southern cross constellation behind it on my left shoulder to commemorate my time I spent in NZ (best time of my life), the viking runes for victory and sanctuary on the backs of my hands (a tie in to my spirituality), and a five-leaf clover on my right forearm (I used to always find them as a kid and have become an important icon to me).
Just take your time, you'll know exactly what you want when it finally hits you.
Yeah, that's what everyone of my friends have told me. I actually just thought of an idea...gunna have to work with it of course. Basically a earth with musical notes going around it...music makes the world go around...but I wanna put a dark twist on it. And I"m still not sure where to put it.

Make the musical notes drip blood, seems dark to me. Put it on your upper arm.

Thanks, I'm asking a few friends of mine for help on how I can make it dark, one of them basically said that to me just now.

If you want a tattoo, but you don't know what you want as a tattoo, then what is your reason for wanting one? You don't just wake up one morning and think to yourself "fuck, I want a tattoo". So what is it? To make you look cool and hard?

You should think about what your tattoo will look like in 30 years.
I'm gonna get a spoof of Mastercard on my wanking arm and leave the rest to your imagination.
For the time being I suggest getting some anti-perspirant deodorant and spraying your design on your body; keep it held down and spraying in the spot for atleast 15 seconds, it has to be really close to you when you spray as well.

Get something that means something to you fuck what others think. I know my tattoo is fairly common but my lifestyle is well known but not widely practiced.
Never let someone judge your ink because more often then not they don't have one of their own or they can't see the reasoning.
Go see your local tattoo artist instead of friends . They will help a lot more. I found the inside of my bicep got quite ticklish but felt somewhat like scratching sunburn.
Goodluck with your decision.

No, I've wanted one for quite some time. I know the one I want to get later in life, but for it to be complete, my mom has to pass away first....so I can't do it right now, not to mention its going to be a full back from shoulders to waistline, so very expensive. I just want a tat I will enjoy now so I know what to expect as far as healing, pain, complications, cost, care, etc.

I'm not worried about it. Anything I do I won't have a regret about because it'll be something that means alot to me, and that will mean it won't be exiting my life ever if I have anything to say about it.

Well I can't draw, much less use that shit to make an earth covered in musical notes....not to mention I"m sure that'd be hell on your skin.

I'm actually going to the house of ink this weekend when I'm off to talk to an artist about my design and seeing what he can come up with as far as concept and price goes, and hopefully he can help me think of where to put it.
It only hurts for the 1st day and you can use a stencil.

I don't get why people care so much about what other people do with their bodies, but here's a thought. If I'm sitting around in 30 years time, bitching about some tattoos I got when I was younger, life will be pretty good if that's all I have to complain about. I'd rather regret the things I did than the things I didn't do. How about you?
For the record, I have a bunch of tattoos, some of which aren't even the best quality due to the circumstances, and I love every single one of them regardless - and I always will. Reason being, they all represent something which is important to me. And, if I do stop liking them, it's not like I'll be beating myself up over it. :p

I just wanted to know if OP was aware of all the consequences of being tattooed. I know a few people who had their tattoos removed because they became very ugly after 20 years.
I really don't care of anybody who wants a tattoo as long as they don't regret it later.
