View Full Version : Serj Tankian
Apparently he's come out with a solo album. It's called Elect the Dead. It's actually not bad. He does all of the voices and instruments (I don't know if he does the drums and bass or not). It's got a pretty system-of-a-down-ish sound. It actually reminds me of a clever mix of Toxicity and Hypnotize. It's weird hearing 4 or 5 Serj voices all at once though.
I guess I would say that it sounds "familiar" - After hearing it once or twice through, it seems as though I've heard it many more times than that (not in a bad way). It just seems natural, I guess... Hard to describe.
I was at a guitar shop in Shinjuku and I heard a song (presumably) from the album playing. It was kinda weird and unexpected, since I'm so used to hearing J-rock and J-pop in places like that now. But it was cool, and I will probably end up getting a copy at some point.

I'm not particularly a metalhead, but I do like some of System of a Down's music. I'll check out this new solo album for sure.
P.S. I didn't know Serj Tankian was lebanese-american-armenian-newzealander. :o

I was a big system fan and the new serj album is nice in that respect, sad thing is his next album will be less rock and more orchestral :(

However, scars on broadway (basically the rest of SOAD) Are plain AWFUL live.

It's lame and annoying, just like SOAD.

I liked the majority of the stuff but, it isn't as good as SOAD.
Scars on Broadway overall is worse and niether even come close to the colaboritve work they did as System of a Down

It's no match for SOAD, but it's a fuck ton better than Scars on Broadway.
