View Full Version : Sucking the wax out of my ear

So I have a lot of earwax in my ear. Too much actually. I'm afraid it may be impairing my hearing some. I've tried those ear drops that are supposed to break up and dissolve your earwax, but they don't work.

I figured I could use a suction device like the ones dentists use in your mouth. Probably involving my vacuum cleaner and duct tape.

Any ideas? How can I avoid destroying my eardrum?

I read this in a book by Chuck Phahuklsnichkcnick (the fight club dude).

What you do is take a paper napkin and roll it up into a cone. make the cone thin enough to stick inside your ear. Now light the exposed side of the cone. Blow out the fire but let the edges glow so it burns slowly (not sure what the correct term for it is.) Now tilt your head towards the ground so the heat/smoke from the slowly burning napkin rises and goes inside your ear, melting the wax.

I've never tried this but let us know how it went if you do.

It would probably melt your brain before the wax. Try it anyway :D
Also,

hydrofluoric acid is the best stuff against ear wax.

Go to a doctor and ask to have it cleaned. Some have a device that can clean out your ears.

The "device" is just a big syringe filled with water. Squirt it in your ear to flush out the wax.

Don't use suction, it won't work and I guarantee you'll blow out your eardrum.

heh, i used a tweezer at one point. its pointy, and didnt push the earwax deeper in the ear like a Q tip does. but it takes a bit of luck and skill to feel where the wax is. anyway, i managed to pull out a massive glob, all in one piece

I once pulled out a pea sized chunk using my car key. It was aurgasmic.

Tilt your head to the side and pour hydrogen poroxide into your ear and give it a minute in there, you'll feel it to start bubble, then cover your ear with a paper towel or tissue and tilt it and pour the stuff out

Just use a damn q-tip or a napkin and a pair of needle nose pliers.

I did this as a kid. Works really well. The only problem was that for about a year everytime I jumped into a pool my ears rushed with water which I hate.

You have earwax for a reason, it's good for your ears.

Ear candles, you can buy them at a health food store. They creat a vacuum and suck the wax out.

There's such thing as too much, though.

You have earwax for a reason, it's good for your ears. You've obviously never used good headphones.

I plan on getting some of these at the local drug store:

but I have no idea how well it will work.

Q-tips suck at removing wax and I swear to Jesus that they actually went down in quality sometime this year, but that's another story.

Last time I got my ears flushed, I walked in and waited 20 minutes. Not a big deal for getting it for free*, if you ask me.

My previous doc had a devoce that was essentially a water gun hooked up to the mains, with a tiny camera on the end for aiming. It fired little bursts of water machine gun style. It cleaned your ears right out

Go to a doctor, he/she will be able to do it without destroying your eardrums, don't try to do that shit yourself.
