I did some reading on vooduo and the Lwa, mostly Papa Legba.

How do you contact these spirits and how do you know you did it right?

How much do you know about contacting spirits? Is this your first run?
Much research should be employed, doing something wrong or opening up to a negative entity could cause some [serious] problems. I'm not kidding when I say serious.

Is there ways to engage with someone outside the physical senses without channeling or putting ones self at risk without protection?

I don't follow voodoo, but you should really ask yourself this:

1) Does the thing I want to contact require anything of me besides love?
Anything outside of that probably would be a waste of your time.

2) Do I have to serve something?
Doing this will fuck you over huge. You are your own boss.

3) What are my intentions for contacting it/him/her?
Ask yourself why you're doing it. If its for your own personal [or ego] gain, don't.

I doubt you'll need luck for where you going. We all get what we put into it. Just please, take precautions, look up "protection" in other realms. Look up astral realms (even if you aren't intending to go there) to see what people have said.
