Neither Here Nor There is a travel book from well known travel writer Bill Bryson. The book covers his return tour around a selection of European countries and cities in an effort to see how they've changed and rekindle old passions.
The book keeps a great pace, never sticking to one thing for too long and is wonderfully funny. From Brysons riddles about various peoples, to his blunt and honest portrayal of the frustrations of travelling there's never a dull moment and it's destined to make you laugh out loud. Very informative and exposes cities for what they are, not what the tourist board tells you.
Sadly, it's best read in smaller doses as his approach to travelling does fall into a rather boring "paint by numbers" affair (critique hotel, walk around sites, dine in restaurant, history lesson, moves on) if you stick with it for too long, so it's not a book you can really tuck into for long sessions. Reading in smaller parts does keep your interest long enough to come back for more. Reading it this way leaves it highly enjoyable, entertaining and leaves many with a wanderlust to do it themselves.
Gets a 4/5 from me. Well worth a read.
