Unless you've done something where they don't need a warrant to kick down your door, simply do not answer. Doesn't matter if they can hear you inside - if you just turn down the TV or whatever, most of the time they just THINK they heard something and leave. I've never had them come back with a warrant, so even if they do kick your door down, find whatever, and don't have a warrant, they're screwed, any evidence was obtained illegaly so it will be thrown out in court. Works for bail bondsmans, debt collecters, you name it - just don't be stupid enough to open that door if you don't recognise them!

They will just after you don't reply either do one of the following:
1. Have one cop go to the back door and yell "Come In"
2. Say they heard something and "Reasonable Response" comes into play
3. Leave

I've had so many cops at my house its fuckin crazy. Hell na dont let those motherfuckers in without a warrant, that should be obvious.
IT all depends on what type of call they got. Shots fired? They dont need a warrant. Domestic Assault? Depends, if they believe theres someone hurt and you don't let them in then your interfering with a police investigation.
For me the only time I had them out here is when I'm drinkin liquor and gettin into fights with some buds. shit like that happens all the time. I never let them in and stand by my door. I've heard from some peeps that even if your on your own property and you step outside they can get you for Public intox. It's never happened to me but I wouldn't doubt they would try some bullshit like that.
Since we don't have a legal section yet (right?), I wanna ask what would happen if the police illegally broke into your house without a search warrant or a proper justification for immediate action, and found incriminating evidence, such as a dead body, and took pictures. So would the court have to dismiss such evidence? Then what would happen about the dead body? I mean would they just leave it there and pretend like they didn't see anything?

If they step into your house without a warrant and take pics, and jury finds you guilty, and you get in jail, then you can just get the case repealed. If you are still in jail, then have fun slapping a fucking HUGE lawsuit on the system, have those fucking cops fired, judge ousted, enjoy life.:fap:

It seems quite fucked that when the prosecution brings up pics of the dead body in ur house that the jury could forget about it. But they have to. If their verdict is based on Evidence which was obtained unlawfully (ie. without a warrant), then the Evidence is inadmissible in court. Inadmissable means simply that they cannot use the evidence in any way.
But the cops arent THAT stupid, generally.
They are trained to exploit we the people's lack of knowledge of the rights they allow us to have.:mad:
KNOW YOUR RIGHTS AND THE POLICE WONT TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU!

It's more likely that they'd arrest you for suspicion of murder rather than take pictures. Having a dead body in your house would automatically make it a crime scene and backup would probably come in with a warrant to investigate while you're being taken away for questioning.

Avoiding the police makes you look suspicious. An innocent person would answer the door. Opening the door does not mean that they are legally allowed in.

Just ignore them.

It has nothing to do with suspicion.
It has everything to do with exercising our rights -- what is left of them.

I was expecting;
"Simple way to avoid cop hassle! Dont do anything wrong."
But alas, 'twas not meant to be.
Last time an officer came to my apartment, was to talk about my security (installer) license application... Ignoring them would have been quite bad for my long term employment prospects.

Yes, you have the right to ignore them, but why would you? By opening the door and talking to them you have nothing to lose (don't invite them in or say something incriminating), and everything to gain (like learning why they are there.)

Point is you don't have to open the door. Say you thought you could be a smooth ass and just open the door and talk, let's say they saw a controled substance in the background. Now your offically fucked, and should hav just pretended you were sleeping. I believe that fall under the "plain view" policy.

i actually did this once in college when they wanted to search my room because it some ra's said it smelt like cigarettes. i said no they called the cops . i was drunk as shit and just layed in bed coming in and out of consciousness well they knocked for about 30 minutes. then they left.
i would imagine if they were called for any real reason they would come in. unless they had good reason to believe maybe you left and know body was home. i've seen parties that the police came to when they just shut the door and that never ended well for the people inside.
as far as cops gaining evidence illegally... you don't want to be facing serious charges and relying on an illegal search and seizure defense. in theory its probably a good defense. but you know how the legal system like you box up.
as a general rule cops can and lie and break rules / do what ever they want and often get away with it.
your best bet is to open the door, blast them with a shotty, and have a pig roast the next day. remember to ditch their squad car so they have no idea who did it...

I'm a 3 time convicted felon. I've had cops come to my house countless times and they've never once had a warrant. Usually they come to your house to trick you into letting them come in.

You don't even have to ignore them at the door. You can answer the door, go outside and shut it behind you and ask to speak with them outside. They can't go inside unless you invite them in, or else it will be thrown out.
Why the fuck was SLOWPOKE's post deleted?
To quote Tom Metzger AGAIN (and don't fucking delete it this time, now I've posted it and you knowit's a serious reply);

If something like that happened you deserve to get put in jail, don't leave your drugs sitting around. Why on earth would you do that, fucking morons. :facepalm:

Avoiding the police makes you look suspicious.
That is irrelevant. The cops may or may not be "suspicious". Giving the cops evidence unnecessarily is stupid and may get you convicted even if you are innocent.
An innocent person would answer the door. Opening the door does not mean that they are legally allowed in.
Depending on the circumstances, it COULD. And just TALKING to the cops could get you arrested even if you are innocent. Remember- if you lie to the cops, it's a CRIME- but THEY can lie to you all day and it's ok. And any deal you make with the cops is not binding on them, you must make a deal with the prosecutor to have a binding agreement. NEVER TALK TO THE COPS WITHOUT A LAWYER PRESENT.

It doesn't matter, they're going to shoot your dog whether you answer the door or not.
