ive searched high and low for articles on how they did it, thinking they used high end explosives to blow them up like petn or at least anfo but no... simple barbeque gas cans.

ive heard somewhere that in australia the old idea was to use silicone or something to make the safe airtight, drill a hole, fill the safe with gas and it eventually pops open, but reading that article makes me think the gas was ignited

to all who are not australian instead of calling petrol gas we call propane gas, actually its called lpg which is liquid petrolleum gas but its 70% propane 30% butane and its a fuckload cheaper then petrol.

problem is it would be stupid for anyone in sydney (like me) to do this shit with a 250 thousand dollar reward on the heads of the suspects, fuck getting tied to the other 30 explosions when all you wanted to do it was once, but that doesnt mean all you other people else where shouldnt give it a try, buy a cheap 20 dollar safe, fill it with gas (propane, you can buy propane bottles for a 20 to use with your bbq or you can buy it by the litre if you have your own container) then detonate it, if whatever sum of money you left in there is still good go out and try it on a bigger scale, it might not work with paper money because maybe the reason i havnt heard this else were around the world is us australians use plastic money instead (same size only made of plastic so we cant counterfeit it...) the people in the article have done this to 30 other atm's without getting caught and using less then 10 dollars of equipment, beats tieing a chain around it and trying to lift the bastard onto the back of your truck.

holy shit you are just full of helpful surprises, never ever thought of just asking them to hold something, take a handkercheif off it and reveal its a detonator and that if they take there hand off it there fucked, if your going down for armed robbery you may as well have a replica gun to scare the other two guards before you start unleashing the peper spray, just drop the bomb and if they move away from it kick it towards them. a mate could be handy but i doubt any of us want to do things in groups.

there was a great article from that same website about 3 youngins walking up with a fake gun, one of the guards began to draw a pistol but he later dropped it at the request of one of the teens, the moneytary figure wasnt exact but they used the term "large sum of money" which if we havnt figured out how much an armoured car would have by now its upwards of 50k at least.

Might have better luck with jamshots or a shaped charge. Fuck, all the BANKS around here have their safes in the lobby...

As for robbing an armored car, just have a buddy pull up infront of one in a realitively isolated area, and point one of these (http://www.ima-usa.com/product_info.php/products_id/1029) at the car and tell them to open up and toss the money in your trunk. I doubt they'd try anything. :cool:

Still seems so wasteful and inefficient though. And stupid. Say they were only getting ten percent, they could have PROPERLY knocked over three ATMs and got the same amount of money, with 27 less chances for a potentially incarcerating fuck up.
