So me and a few mates went to a party yesterday. There weren't a lot of girls there our age except a couple and I soon find one I'm interested in. I find out that she thinks I'm hot. (through a friend (girl)).

She came up and introduced herself and we talked for a bit, then I left the beach to get some money out. I come back to find my best friend talking to her in the water. After a bit he comes up and I say "You know I'm interested in that girl. You could have talked to any other girl here" He had no excuse either because I had been talking about her to him beforehand.

He apologized and told me not to be angry so I got over it. We decided to go for a swim. The girl was in the water but we didn't really go near her. He wanted to go out further but I couldn't be fucked, so I headed back in and went back up to chill with my mates, only to find a few minutes later him back talking to her again in the water. This time I went down and joined in on the convo where after a while we decided to get out.

I tell him that I don't care if I get with the girl or not, it's just the fact he went and did that. A bit of time goes by and yet again I find him in the water with this chick, instead they are out of sight. I go up to them and tell him in front of her to stop being a dog cunt and let's get the fuck out of here. He tells me he will soon and so I get up and go back to my other mates. We don't see him for a good 45 minutes so me and my other friend who came with me and my dog friend leave and don't hear from him or know how he got home. She wouldn't have slept with him because she is a virgin and wants a boyfriend or some shit.

Anyway, my "mate" sent me a message over myspace this morning saying what's up and what time will I be home from work. As I said before, it's not the fact I didn't get with her, it's just the principle of me telling him about a chick, then him ditching me to go out of his way to tune her. Part of me is saying to go off at him and tell him he is a dog fucking friend and couldn't give a fuck how I feel, and another part of me is saying, get over it. But I just don't think I can. What would you do?

At least you handled the situation in a mature and grown up way.

seriously just because you "called shotty" on this girl, doesn't shes yours for the night. maybe she was reciprocating, and if your friend is a normal person hes not going to be like "sorry ma'am I refuse to talk to you on grounds that my friend over there called shotgun"

Well, personally, I'd have a chat with him and tell him that you were not best pleased with his behaviour and that, in short, he acted like a twat.

But thing is, if this girl has already said (by proxy) that she likes you, then you still have a shot, so all is not lost.

Just bide your time until you see her next, and make sure you have a chat to her before your mate sticks his oar in.

Best of luck in any case.

I know that the shotgun rule isn't a friend-binding contract or some shit, but it's just being a respectful best friend.

Bollocks it is seriously bad manners to jump after a girl one of your very close friends is into, it results in massive resentment.

Definitely, obviously it can be cricket if you ask permission from your friend to pursue the girl in question.

English > British

British can refer to any member of the British Isles, such as Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.

Whereas English, refers to those citizens of Albion, those great exalted few that brought together the erroneous tribes of Picts, Celts and Welsh and created a hemogenous state which controlled 3/4 of the worlds surface.

We also are responsible for the creation of the Night Watchman state, in essence this is explained by the maxim: He who governs best, governs least.

Yes, I happen to agree, but confronting him in front of the girl in question makes both of you look like immature asses squabbling over meat.

You're both being rather immature and stupid.

Although he shouldn't have been trying to get with a girl you expressed interest in, just out of politeness, you shouldn't be throwing a fit over it either. It's one girl, one night, and you're getting all icy with him over it? Tell him it irked you and then drop it. What else are you going to, I mean really? All he did was talk to some girl...

Yeah, but him talking to some girl resulted in him doing a number of other things. Such as, ditching his friends, going out of his way to tune a girl he knew his best mate was interested in, lying, apologizing for something then doing the same thing again 20 minutes later.

Maybe him just talking to some girl isn't such a bad thing, but he knew it would make me angry at him, yet that didn't stop him. Which shows me what type of person he can be at times, a shit one.

Yes, I understand that. These kind of fights and whatnot happen when you're friends with someone for a while. But you really have two options: get over it and keep being friends, or hold a grudge forever and lose a friend because of it.

Is this incident worth dropping him as a friend, is it a pattern that recurs and you don't want to be a part of anymore? Only you know the answer.

To be fair, every time someone has offered you advice thus far, you've quickly jumped on them and explained to them why their advice is wrong. You're not looking for advice; you're looking for someone to tell you what you want to hear.

Isn't everyone to some extent or other? People will more readily concur with someone's opinion or thoughts or a course of action or situation, if it mirrors their own..

Exactly, now prepare to actually discuss the situation mutually or get the fuck over it (this is the best option)

I wasn't asking for your opinion on whether I am right to be angry or not. I was asking what I should do. If you are someone who doesn't think I should be angry, then your advice isn't needed here.

Fill a balloon with mayonnaise and urine. Throw it in your friends face. There. Now someone is telling you what to do. Oh, and take pics/vid.

E: This got me thinking of a childhood story. I had nothing to do with the following, but I think its pretty funny. Some of my friends got in a fight with my other friend. I don't know what about, but it was definitely something stupid. This was like in grade 5. Anyways, 4 guys shit and pissed in a sealable bucket for like 4 days. Then they threw it all over the other guys front door and porch. They ended up getting in trouble from the principle.

OP, maybe you should try something like that. Shit/piss in a bucket for a week then throw it on your "friend". That'l learn em.
