Is it bad to feed my dog whatever i eat?

So when ever im eating anything (whether it be rockets, sandwiches, soup, chili, candy necklaces, etc) i always give him a little.

Is that bad? like wtf is the notion of dog food. i know its so that they shit in uniform circular easy pickupable bricks, but the idea that we have to give them separate "food" is ridiculous.

anyways should i at least stop feeding him candy?

First of all, it's totally unhealthy. Dogs are not people. They need a fuck of a lot more protein then we do, which they get from dog food.

And candy and lots of sugar is so bad for him. Lots of shit like that dogs can't digest properly.

Also, say you've got a nice piece of food that you don't want to share. If your dog is in the habit of eating whenever you're eating, he's gonna be on your ass every time he smells your food.

It's bad for the dog and shitty training on your part. Just don't do it.

I completely agree, yet believe that there are always exceptions.

I was at someones 7th birthday party once, where the dog accidentally ate the chocolate cake and died within a few hours. (happy birthday!)

My Husky/Collie/Retriever/Wolf mutt, on the other hand, eats chocolate all of the time, be it timbits, donuts, chocolate bars, cookies, hot chocolate etc. He craves chocolate and will ridiculous things to get it when it is around. He is very healthy, 12 years old, and we have never had any problems with him.

My Bichon Frise on the other hand will be sick for days if he accidentally gets into chocolate, he pukes everywhere, and very obviously feels like shit.

I know that chocolate is proven to be bad for your dogs, but I think that it depends on how they react to it, and if they are getting all the nutrients they need on top of that, and if they seem okay when they eat chocolate to determine if you should stop feeding it to your dog.

On another note, our dogs eat dog food, but also eat lots of fruit and veggies, as they really like them, does anyone know if this is bad...they are still getting lots of protein and other nutrients through other sources.

Just dont feed your dog any mushrooms, chocolate, onions,garlic grapes or raisens. As they can either kill your dog or cause kidney failure.

If you feed your dogs any chocolate your a fucking idiot. It's a known poison, its not the chocolate itself its the stuff in it called theobromine which varies on the type of chocolate you have. Even if your feeding your dog little ammounts your slowly poisoning your dogs dumbass.

Theobromine is fairly quick-acting. I wouldn't recommend feeding your dog chocolate, even if they love it, but it's not going to build up like fucking mercury or something.

On an interesting side note, cocoa alkaloids in the proper doses is quite pleasurable as a human being.

And dogs can handle a fair bit, I understand that they need a 20-25% protein diet but its easy to acheive. we feed our dogs pasta, bread, vegetables and odd bits of pork, for which we have a large supply (owing to us having pigs on our land). They also can have as much 'dog food busicuits' as they want (they are not gluttonous for some reason) and they seem healthy enough.
