Rogue science is down - "This Account Has Been Suspended". It's been almost a day since I noticed it so I'm guessing it's not just a tech problem. Anyone know what's going on?

Sure, there were a few gems in the FTP if you didn't DL a file that had a trojan in it, but overall there wasn't anything fantastic on the site. Case in point if you went to their firearms section and gunsmithing sections, they had jackshit other than questions about how to convert something to full-auto which were often unanswered or answered with incorrect information.

Above all, I'd actually classify the majority of the members as anti-science and doing nothing more than discussing hypothetical things that wouldn't work in the real world. Very few actually posted a lab report with a detailed enough procedure section to actually gain something useful from reading the report.

Overall, it was a hilarious site to read because of the moronic ideas and watching the banning of people for no apparent reason.

While a lot of it was corrupted by kewls and such... there are still some really great old threads there... I remember a "whats your favorite primary explosive" thread that was full of tons of interesting primaries... That might have been the thread that started the nitrotetrazole threads... both at RS and SMDB...

In regards to the FTP... I never messed around to get access... but if your just downloading .pdfs... how do you get a trojan?

I agree though that now it is mostly kiddiots asking the same retarded questions over and over... and more people giving retarded answers.

I was going to make an effort to actually start posting there... but never really got around to it... what with classes... now modding here... trying to spend less time on the computer... etc...

I do hope it comes back though... as well as dererumomnis.org / a0tu... I haven't heard from the dererumomnis dude in a long time.

As many of you have noticed, roguesci.org has been down for some
time. Myself (Chaac) and another moderator (Mr. Science) have
decided that the time has come to take action, and to begin anew.
We have created a temporary board to organize members.

The URL is http://rstemp.1.forumer.com/

This is on a free host, and it is just being used for the sake of getting
everyone together. There will be no E&W or related chemistry
discussion on the temporary board. Once we have everyone organized,
we will be opening a new site aimed at filling the void roguesci
has left behind. However, we will also now be allowing formerly
unallowed subjects such as pharmacology. The new site will be
generally be aimed more towards chemistry than explosives
specifically. If you were a member on roguesci, or were interested
in the subjects, I would like to encourage you to join the new
board.

I will post the new forum link when it is online, which will be within a week.

Well, Phrixus won't let you view the explosive side of things unless you have a background in chemistry or electronics - so much for a RogueSci replacement :rolleyes: .

I have no intentions of spending years learning chemistry (a subject which for the most part I'm not that interested in) just so i can be considered a "contributing member" and be granted access to the phrixus forum. So what are the options for people who want a RogueSci-like site?

Or am I going to have to just use RS torrents, Patents and trial-and-error (that's sure to be fun :eek: )

I assume the restriction on access to the energetics and pharma forums is a sort of high-grade kewl filter. If they don't already know you're useful, or at least not a retard or chemically-inept mishap, then you don't get to go where you'd be asking dumb questions.

I think Mega was considering something like that for a while, or it was brought up in one of the "forum suggestions" threads. Not such a bad idea, really, though on the face of it it's a severe annoyance. Not that I had much of a post count on RS - 100 or so, was mostly a lurker - but it does mean that reading is restricted.

Ah well. Not exactly a hardship to build up a decent S/N ratio and ask for access. We'll see.
