I'ma huge fan of the first DoW. The expansions are great (well, SoulStorm was only so-so), the gameplay is fantastic, and I've always liked Warhammer 40k, so I was quite pleased to find that there was a sequel coming out. Then I actually looked into it...
First, the sequel has pretty steep system requirements. I mean, I'm all for games that use system resources wisely if that's how they maintain their awesomeness, but I guess that as a laptop owner, it's sad to see so much of the market focusing on games that need high-end systems. My laptop is actually pretty high-end, but, obviously, the video card falls short with most games from the last 12 months or so.
But more to the point - fucking TYRANIDS! I am both very happy and really pissed about this. I'm happy that DoW players will finally get a chance to play as and against the little buggers. I'm pissed that they were really obviously holding onto the Tyranids as a sort of hole card to help launch the sequel.
I know that they just want to make the game as great as possible, but after all the playable races they added in the first game and expansions, it seems like a step back to now release a sequel with less than half of those races present. I suppose I will have to wait for my epic Tyranids vs. Necrons campaign...
