flying in dreams

I stopped smoking and started dreaming again, can anyone explain the feeling of flying in dreams?

for me its like a feeling in my chest when I fly,

its not like anything in real life (skiing, abseiling etc)

so where does this feeling come from?

and when I was young I would fly real high in dreams, now its normally like a very long jump along the ground.

weird i hate listening to people talk about dreams, i dont like dreaming cos they are just so strange. and very rarely is there anyone in my dreams that i know, which i try to put down to faces in the crowd being thrown up from my subconsious.

anyway what i want to know is where does the feeling from the flying come from cos its not like anything i have had in real life, although I haven't snow boarded i have done a few extreme sports.

I cant smoke at the moment so I am getting loads of dreams, so i am trying for overtiredness to keep the dreams at bay!

does anyone else remember a flying dream feeling?

Are you serious? It isn't ALWAYS lucid dreaming, is it? Because not a night passes where I don't fly in dreams. Sensation is so fucking real. And everything looks like its about 1,000 feet below, maybe less. If you depend on your arms, not your mind, you start falling, and flap your arms.

seriously y.g. nigga, i got scared when i was high up couldn't control myself very well coming into some big power cables, woke up.

never made it much higher than houses since then, and dont really want to, i never tried using my arms, definitly a head and chest feeling

Way back in late '04, I had a dream where I was blowing toward power lines, to the point where the crossbars were 2x4s, and the wires were steel ropes. But if it is AP like Nightside Eclipse said, which I don't think it really is, then the wires can not harm.

I dont find it unpleasant, I'm just wondering how you can feel something in a dream that you cant in real life, that feeling is just so unique.
