Ok, so. I've always had a huge crush on Neko Case. Mostly for her work in The New Pornographers but also because she's put out some really amazing alt.country/neo-folk albums with her solo career. Fox Confessor Brings the Flood was one of my favorite albums of 2006.
Anyways, we'll see how this does. Carl Newman of the New Pornos is also putting out a solo album this year, which I'm pretty excited about. However, the last New Pornos album was pretty terrible, so who knows.
Here's the album art:

I enjoyed "People Got A Lotta Nerve," though it worries me a little that it sounds like she might be going in a different direction from the distinctly country material from her previous works, but I guess we'll see in a few weeks. Can't wait to finally catch her live this year.
Here is a song about ferrets she and Carl Newman contributed to Esopus magazine: http://www.zshare.net/audio/13176709af3003f4/

Awesome, I'll take a look at that when I get a little less busy (sorry for editing, but I don't know if there are any copyright issues with that track, and instead of taking the time to investigate, I just through it in [code] brackets).
As far as I'm concerned, she can pretty much do no wrong. I'm pretty anti-country, but when she does it, it makes me very happy. So, I'm not too worried if she's taking it in a new direction.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, I will listen to ANYTHING Neko Case records. She is basically the only reason I have all these New Pornographers albums.
Middle Cyclone leaked a few days ago, but I am resisting the urge to pirate this album because I just can't bring myself to steal from her and I have a feeling that I will get absolutely no work done.
Here is a video of Neko Case on some public access cable show I found on the internet and uploaded onto YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbjO2o54yqo
It involves dancing and wigs.

Just got it. This Tornado Loves You is amazing. The last half minute or so when she wails, "What would make you believe me," made me shiver. I also really liked Never Turn Your Back On Mother Earth, Don't Forget Me, The Pharaohs, and Red Tide. I could have done without Marais La Nuit, but at least it's at the end and not in the way of the rest of the album.
