So, I live in an apartment, and the landlord is kind of an awkward guy to talk to, so I will try you guys first.

The lights here have gone out before, I think a problem in the wiring. They usually come on after 20 minutes or so. But now its been 3 days, I think they are dead.

I have no idea what kind of lights these are, where to buy them or how to change them. Can anyone help me out?

So, any tips? Name of this type of light? Can I change one? Or need all 3?

Remove the .th from it.

I don't know much about electricity but that looks like some kind of vapor lamp.

Aren't those halogen bulbs?

Look through these fittings, I can't tell what yours is from the picture:
http://www.bulbs.com/Halogen_Bulbs/results.aspx?AffID=6&cm_mmc=google-_-light+bulbs-_-halogen+bulbs-_-halogen+bulbs&No=50

And should you install them don't touch them with your bare hands, the oils in your fingers will dissolve the glass.

I'm not sure but try putting on some latex gloves and pushing the bulb to the left then lifting the right side out. I've never dealt with these before but it looks like that's how it works from the pictures.

Take the bulb out and take it to Home Depot or Lowes?

This. Is how these work.

Except it doesn't matter if you touch the dead one- installing a new one is the tricky part. Oils from your skin will cause temp dif and crack the glass.

Oh, and these obviously come in a bunch of different wattages, but iirc it's usually indicated by length, or printed on the ceramic 'nodes' on the end. Look for some little black letters then commandeer a ship to your local hardware store.

^^ If you do accidentally touch the glass though, you can clean the oil off with rubbing alcohol or meths.

I love how the pictures list huge resolutions, but are just thumbnails.'

As nuclearrabbit mentioned earlier on, remove the .th bit from the link in the address bar when you click on it. You'll get the full res image then. ;)

I thought I posted in this thread aaaages ago...but I didn't. Anyway, on the off chance the OP is still around, the bulb should just pull out towards you. The fitting looks a lot like a big halogen uplighter I have.

Oh oh oh.

How many emos does it take to change a lightbulb.

one to change it.
One to write a song about it.
One to update their myspace about how much the old one was better.
One to write a poem about it.
And one to Cry over the old one.

Or none since they want to cry in the dark.

They look like standard 150Watt Halogen bulbs, or smaller, like 100watt or 75 watt.

Easy, make sure the switch is off, grab the bulb & push it sideways (along the length of the bulb), once its out of the clip, pull it out.

Its still probably in one peice, they are stupid bulbs, they get real hot & fry the white insulation stuff on the end of the bulb & then crapout.
At the same time they oxidise the metal power contacts & that makes them hot too.

Probably why they sometimes come back on, cooling shrinks the bulb a bit, making electrical contact again & then they work again.

Once you have the bulb out, look closely, there should be the wattage printed on it somewhere.
Take it to a hardware store & get them to find a replacement.

Because they can, they are actually pretty expensive for what it is, a shitty power hungry short lifed crappy outputage bulb, that costs NZ$10 each here.

Hell, its cheaper to get a 500watt version here, I have seen them for NZ$2 each.

Anyway, get back in there with some fine sandpaper & sand the oxide off the electrical contacts & replace the bulb.

Like they say, don't touch the bulb with your fingers, just wrap it with some clean dry cloth so yah fingers don't touch the glass.
If you do, or its dirty, wipe it down with alcohol & dry it before putting it back in.

The reason is, you get oil from your fingers on the bulb, because its quartz or something theres tiny cracks in the glass, once oil gets in the cracks, & heats up & expands, it breaks the bulbs glass.

I have two of them at home and I replace them about as often as I replace any other bulb in the house, one halogen, one normal, one halogen, another normal & on & on..

Last time I gave up & will replace it with a circular flouroesent bulb.
Besides for the 300watt they used, the light they give out was about the same as a shitty 20 watt CFL bulb.
