Well, prices are going to be higher in the prosperous major cities of any country, and Thailand is no exception. This isn't really a big deal though, it's still very cheap.

And this is exactly why I'm trying to head to S.E. Asia :D. Thailand would be great but unless you can get a business visa (and I don't have a degree yet) you'll have to make a visa run every 2 weeks. In Cambodia you can stay indefinitely if you want. And it's just across the border from Thailand.

You have to renew it every 15 days if you come in by land. If you fly in, you get a 30-day visa.
