So from what I watched, this new technology reads the plates of any car that passes a cop car(on any side in some cases), and searches for stolen vehicles.
But someone called in a plate because they thought that person in the car was drug dealing... now the cops have that plate in the system as well. So the alarm will now go off anytime the alleged 'drug dealer' is around.
hmm..
fucked up.

Yep lots (all maybe? or just some forces, not sure) of the cop cars here have the ANPR system, just automatically tells em if there's someone with a warrant for them, disqualified drivers, stolen cars etc..

On some of the newer cars here in NY they have them. When your car passes by it will scan your plate and if any red flags show up it will pop up and tell the officer.
If your registration or inspection is expired, if your license is suspended, if you have any warrants, if the car is stolen... even possible drug dealer claims.

We must devise something to put around our plates so they won't work.

They already have that, its basically glass over it. Unfortunately its illegal, so unless you want to go all Transporter on us and design an autochanging plate, you're just gonna have to deal with it.

Yea, we would need something to alter the info their recieving. If it was to block the info they were after that may lead to another reson to stop you

If the plate in on enough of an angle, it won't read it, and some license plate frames interfere, and stop it from reading.

Everyone knows about those. Something NEW. Also, they are not all that illegal. People have them on all the time here. Also, they make little motors with rails that will flip your license plate up into/under the car with the push of a button.

Yeah exactly, I guess the point is to hide it before they see it if you are planning on running from them? I dunno,, silly street racers.

I was under the impression that these were only for the speed trap cameras, they would blind themselves when the flash went off from the camera. These don't use flashes so it wouldn't really help.

All you'd need is one of those new license plates that's just printed on paper in the bottom of your window, though I think those expire or something.
