View Full Version : ask the Magic 8-ball

An oracle is a tool used for doing psychic readings, and while all are equally valid (assuming that one uses them with clarity of intent and focussed attention), not all are equally appropriate. A chainsaw and a pen knife are both tools for cutting wood, but using a pen knife for cutting firewood would not get you very far. Similarly, it would be inappropriate to use a Tree of Life Tarot spread for a simple yes/no question.
That said, this thread is for people to post fairly straightforward yes/no questions, and I will use the Magic 8-ball for answers. I tried this before in totse, and got interesting results, and a lot of good feedback.
Please note that existing guidelines, as posted in the other psychic readings threads, apply.
Divination like this may very well be a vestige of the bicameral mind.

Lower your sights a little; it was in the original "ask the Magic 8-ball" thread on Totse that I asked Arm's if I'd become a mod.
No prizes for guessing what the answer was. :D

"Without a doubt"
Maybe not in this lifetime, however.

Why not, i'll ask it too:
"Will i ever become a mod of paranormal?"
and...
"Will i ever become a mod"
(if two is alright, if only one then i guess go general mod.)

"Reply hazy, try again"
Actually, the question is inappropriate, but what the heck.
Geez, didn't ANYONE bother to check out the guidelines. . . . ?

Grand in what way? Money? Spirituality? Health?

In this lifetime, will I purposefully cause the physical death of a human being?

Once more--READ THE FUCKING GUIDELINES, okay?
Thank you.
If you can't locate the stickied thread at the top of the page, here is a key quote:
"Don't ask what "will" happen. The universe is flexible; we create our own reality."

Finally--a question that is appropriate--assuming that you mean by "should", "in my ultimate best interest" . (The word "should" is not in my formidable working vocabulary, as it implies some sort of spurious moral imperative.)
And the 8-ball says--"better not tell you now."
Don't you hate it when that happens?
Okies, if my last question isn't appropriate then how about this one:
Should I become a thief/scam artist?(I really want to do this, I just need to get over my over-cautiousness).

The 8-ball says "Outlook not so good."
Which probably means you would do some jail time following that path, which might be a valuable lesson, but maybe not worth the price yo would have to pay for it.

DAMN IT!!! Oh well, I'll think of something. We all create our own realities and in my realities I'm not convinced that your 8 ball is 100% accurate. Still fun and interesting though.

Again--you last two--please read the guidlelines.
It isn't bloody rocket science.
Well, it seems this thread isn't too busy, so I'll go ahead and ask another question.
Would it be in my best interest to kill myself?
No, Greyfox, NO, stop it, don't assume anything, don't start thinking about things, just keep a clear mind and ask this, It might be interesting. Domo Arigato, bearded wise one.

The 8-ball says "very doubtful."
Thing is, you can't kill your self--your self, your soul, is eternal, immortal, invulnerable.
You CAN wreck your physical body in a variety of ways, and thus discorporate--but not die.
That said, this this thread has not been wokring out too well, I think it is time to say goodnight, Gracie.
