Probation and drug use in the USA

I live in NC and am currently on probation until Dec of 2009 for some stupid things I did. I've never been on probation before. I made my first visit with my probation officer on January 15th and I have to meet with her again on the 25th of February. On my first visit, she asked if I had received any type of drug panel, which I had not, so she tested me.

My question is that for those of you who have unfortunately experienced probation, how were your drug screens handled and if I did happen to test positive on one, what do you think the consequences would be?

Man, that so depends on where you are and your probation officer. Things can vary from being violated on the spot, to them letting the first one slide - not likely... Just don't do drugs for 11 months. It's not all that hard to do if you're properly motivated.

My older bro has 8 yrs of probation for poss of MDMA.

He choked didn't take the first month of probation serious, the probation officer tested him, he failed with pot in his system, she was a lady cop and she just warned him.

long story short, depends on your officer and how cool he or she is. Most of them will let you slide, most will just fuck you over.

If you fail a drug test, they give you drug counseling as well as test you more often. You could be violated, but most people I know who have been violated fail many tests first. Best thing to do is stay clean. What kind of test do they give you? when i had to take them the were just strip tests that weren't sent to a lab. I had to stay on probation a month longer than i thought i would, so i had a big party before i knew i would have another drug test. I drank a cleanser called detoxify and it worked. I had thc, amphetamines, opiates, benzos...a lot of stuff in my system. but try that at your own risk. if i had failed i would have been tested weekly, had drug counseling, and at least 6 months added to my probation. that would have cost a fortune at 95$usd a test.

Depends on what type of probation, if its for a felony or a misdermeanor and it depends on what type of probation officer you got.

I'm an excon wont be free till 2018 so I don't fuck around. The way they told me at the orientation was if you fail one test its up to the officer whether they give you another chance, if they do you have to pay a small fine.

My road dawg who was on the same shit failed one, went in geeked on coke and told dude he knew he wouldnt pass.. They'll ask you first, so if you know your going to fail be honest with them cuz they gave my boy another chance. He ended up lettin the drugs get the best of him. Got right back in there. A few months later.

Now here misdermeanor probation is alot different. Its all up to the officer. My brother got violated his first time for pissin dirty for everything and had to do 11-29. Although I've had other bros get 2nd chances, its up to your PO. Sometimes they won't even tell you that you failed. You'll just be out one day, get stopped and once they run your name you'll find out you have warrants.

Usually the first test doesn't count if your gettin out of jail or on parole. Thats what they told me.

Heres some advice brother, cuz its easy to slip up.. Take in one hand some drugs and the dumb shit and take the year you got in the other.. Weigh them and ask yourself is the drug\dumbshit worth violating + whatever time they give you for violating.. Hell na its not.

If you eat pills, get a legit script for them that way your in the clear. STAY AWAY FROM WEED. Don't fuck with it, my boy got out on parole and violated 10 years just for a joint. He aint elible for parole for a minute.

As hard is this is you need to distance yourself from the people who do drugs, or anyone who might bring you down. If you start runnin with the same group your going to get caught back up. It's not worth the time! No ammount of time is worth your freedom.

I can't tell you how it is, words can't express the feelings I felt when I was sittin in a little ass cell locked down 23 hours a day in max with only my mind and my memories to look back on. I dreamed about being back out there just to see a bird or a tree. Anything besides the bars and the walls man.

The reason I'm saying all of this is I started off bein on just a year probation like yourself. Still was raisin hell, still was tryin to find ways to beat the system and I fucked up. But it wasn't a small fuck up, I got caught up in some big shit and now I gotta pay for it. I can no longer vote or own a fire arm. I loved to smoke the hell out of weed but those days are long gone, for now. All I do now is drink eat a few pills and try to maintain.

Alright. I was on probation bout 3 years ago, so that's about as old as my knowledge is.

If you're a minor, they'll usually let your first one slide, and if you're just a minor drug charge(simple possession of a small amount, under age drinking, etc) they'll probably let you slide, but as Meta said, it still depends largely on your PO.

Honestly, if you failed your first one for something, for this instance lets say pot, they'll let it slide(again if they will allow you to slide), they will probably let you slide as long as in ~2-3 months it dwindles down to testing negative for everything. When I was on Probation for possession, I failed the first one, and somehow, the 2nd one, but I hadn't smoked since just before the first test, I explained it to my PO, and somehow, he believed me. So I still failed my 3rd, but since it barely turned the test sheet, it meant it was a very low concentration in my system, so he saw it as I was off drugs, and it was working out of my system. I passed the rest of my shit with flying colors, got off, and later that same day, rolled a 8th up in a Dutch Master Sport blunt, and celebrated.

im on probation in Texas. Just dont do any drugs, its really common sense. I dont know about where you are. But if you fail a UA in Texas they lock your ass back up, usually for a minimum of 30 days.
