So let me get this right...

In order to make a cannon, all i really need is a tube that's sealed on one end, with a small hole towards the end that's sealed for a fuse, and then i put in black powder, shove it down, proceed to put ammunition on top of the black powder, and finally stick a fuse in and light the fuse?

To make a pull-string cannon-

Take apart a party-popper, stuff the small tube with the string in it into the fuse hole, grab string.

I used to have a thick aluminum cannon I shot off this way. Sent a few co2 cartridges into space :D

Use a can of frozen grape drink for the ammunition?

Also make sure your stress tolerances are ok for the chamber and all welds or seals are set in place... Last thing you want is a metal tube packed with gunpowder exploding by you...

Also I remember hear tell of a beer can mortar from years ago... Used a beer can filled with cement as the projectile... Just food for though.
