Well I've been getting into painting recently and I fail at acrylics so I found some Gouache round the house and gave it a go. I like how they came out but I have a rudimentary technique as in I paint in blocks of colour and don't layer at all. Gouache seems an uncommon medium but maybe some of you here know a bit about it...

Maybe you could start with thinned paint, and then go over it when you've completed the whole painting with the thinned paint. Some of the details probably wont come out so blotchy, I do this with my airbrush, and it works pretty great for me. Hope this helps.

I'll give that a go thanks, gouache is tricky for consistency. stupid question: your not using gouache in your airbrush, are you?

Gouache might not be the best type of paint for you to use for this type of painting. Looks like acrylic would probably have been better.
Either way, just keep practicing and experimenting, or just try googling 'gouache techniques'.

Yeah I thought acrylic as well but then I found out that syd mead does stuff like this in gouache:

also my attempts at gouache have been far more successful than acrylic
google isn't too forthcoming on the topic of gouache but I've found a bit of good stuff

No I'm not but I mean, I was just assuming that since most paints can be thinned and all that, it would work. :D
