I've been told that the scene is way more harsh and unforgiving than my native Los Angeles/San Bernardino/Riverside scene but it's just so tempting
I'm with my parents here, but they know that I know some DJs that travel all over the world and stuff, and might be able to swing some kind of safe night at a party. I'm 19, so no worries there. If I don't like it, I'll be SOBER and able to just call a cab and get out EARLY.
I'm not bringing any of my Kandi or anything to flag me for abuse by other ravers or the police, or drug dealers. I just want to go observe people and listen to some happycore and hardstyle if at all possible. Can anyone help me maybe...?

I just can't believe that a cultural center with such a breadth of knowledge and color could ever give up on their children creeping off into the night. I MUST persist. It's not my favorite city, but it's a good city. All cyberpunk and grisly and real... and I want to experience the difference in realities.
So, who's up for the adventure!??!? I know tons of people in my rave scene, the DJs and producers, etc. etc. Now that I'm out of my element, who's going to teach me how to do it the New York way, huh? It'll be one of my grander excitements in this city, lads, or otherwise I'll leave disappointed.

I've basically got tomorrow to figure something out. :o i know, lame... I'm more of an underground, local LA feel. I even know Dragon who spun in LA before NYC... and all the crews... just looking for something decent, smallish, to crossover with someone and not get me killed yeh? At this point I'd settle for a BDSM club for the industrial music :hrmph:

Unfortunately ravelinks wasn't very accommodating (it seemed to me) in the first place. I did check right before my trip, and for a sec. on friday night, just in case there was someone posting asking for a ride to something etc. I was hoping I could go from there... but it's digressed into ads for clubs and parties months in advance.
Back when I started raving, 4ravers and ravelinks were hubs for information about "the now" and actual parties, big and small. Maybe it's time to admit that the NY and LA scenes have changed a lot. Even the DJ I knew that works out in NYC didn't know what to tell me.

There's almost always a website geared for particular states. Like:
www.utahraves.com
www.azedm.com

You are in NYC. Put on some skin tight jeans, boots and a motorcycle jacket and go watch a Strokes cover band for fucks sake.

yeah I know people in New Mexico, Washington, all over my state CA, Missouri, Arizona, etc... so I have a lock on a lot... just, it seems new york doesn't have a lot of small parties. They're never in the news, no one knows any small time ravers, I know people who went to bigger parties out here and they warned against it... like... big time. So I think the urban police situation may have snuffed out a lot of the urban EDM scene there.

haha oooh dressing like someone who listens to rock instead of dance music, great advice. well, The fucking Cure was playing out there and by the time we got our plane tickets they'd sold out.
Anyway, I did plenty, just didn't rave or see The Cure *epic fail*. Would have been nice. :hrmph:
