The same thing that happens if you do it right: NOTHING.

^ hahah "whitest of the Gods" I know the context/subtext but shit, that's silly.
why, specifically, is OP trying to get on Loki's good side? Why not any other random deity?

According to what I've read, he will not survive it. He will die along side Thor, Odin, and others.

I was on the verge of consigning this to the trash, but post #12 redeemed it.
Back to topic--I thnk that in general, old gods appreciate any attention they get. But Loki--well, he's something else. I would strongly advise against invoking him.
also i think if you are not mostly of nordic descent its stupid to worship norse gods.
I might have to agree with fox on this one.
I don't know if this matters to them or not and quite frankly, I bet they could care less about it.
Besides,
If I was them, (especially if was a lebian orgy going on in my honor and wanting me to join) I would gobble that attention right up.
My goddess is mor rioghan (great queen in gaelic). most people claim to honor/worship her but most are just a bunch of feminist lesbians. why would you claim to honor a goddess of war when you dont have anything to do with war? i do talk to some women who are cool who also worship her in some way. i would like to see more people start doing it. from what i read there are cults in ireland dedicated to her. but im the only guy i know of who does.
Never heard of her.
Is this the one you are talking about?

i dont understand why everyone goes for all of this norse stuff when they are not mostly from that.
It's due to the fact because the sheer amount of information that's available on these gods, it's easier for people to learn about Thor and Loki then it is the Lwa.
If you visit your local libray or do a quick google search,
you will find out that information on the Norse Gods (along with Greek and Roman Gods)
is very accessible to anyone with a brain cell and reading level of a grapefruit.
Anything on Lucifier or Satan is also easy to find.
But I'm not willing to go down that road just yet.

I dunno man. Maybe it's the symbolism and/or imagery that people worship more than the deity itself.
For example, people who aren't Nordic but pay some kind of respect (be it asking themselves what a deity did up to flat out worship) to Odin, Thor, Tyr etc because it's their strength, their wisdom, their exploits etc that they want in their lives the most. It's better when you can put a face to your belief because there's a personification.
The same goes with so many other cultures/religions...Ganesh/Lakshmi and good fortune, The Buddha and great wisdom, Jesus and compassion etcetera, etcetera, et-fucking-cetera because there's thousands of the buggers.
I think if something speaks to you and helps you do what you want/need to do and bring something more into your life, embrace it. What else are deities for other than to be larger than life and to affect it somehow?
Sounds like you know your stuff and would like to know more about it. Mine if I send you a PM?

anyway psycho8b i just think its natural for people to be attracted to whatever their own culture and traditions is not someone elses. im sure i have nordic ancestors too, but most wern't. its up to you though.
I'm not faulting you at all. I see your perspective and I respect it.
But then again, there's the people who convert to Christianity, Islam etc because there's a way to gain their desires through a religion.
White people becoming Muslim even though they're Western but fear Allah, Christians to Judaism so they can marry someone, black guys to Jehovah's witness because they see more sense in that interpretation than in the others...
It's like the Hari Krishnas...Most of them are white (I know. I live across the street to a house FULL of these stupid bastards) and have nothing to do with Krishna or Hinduism at all but they've seen a way to live a comparitively peacful and more loving life than with what they were doing before. Fucked if I know how but that's what I heard.
As I said, if something speaks to you, embrace it. Even if there's no logical reason for you to do so. Remember, with religion, logic goes straight out of the window!

I'm looking for a teacher and looking for a much need change in my life.

this
and toothlessjoe is right too. i dont want to use the word "worship" but i do have a goddess from celtic mythology. to me she represents different things like war and death and my ancestors. she is only real if i make her real. i give her power not the other way around. i dont pray. i have a picture and a candle and i tell her things that i've done or things that im planning to do. it may sound silly to some people but i dont care.
so if you want to honor loki, lie cheat steal and cause havoc. no matter what you believe exists beyond this, there are two things that only an idiot couldnt see. there are no ghosts that you make offerings to that will show you favor. and second that good and evil are subjective. the world is an eternal battlefield. think quick and be as strong and as fast as you can be. procreate and take the property/lives of the people who are enemies to what you value.
Wow, you're pretty crazy, brah. Keep up the good work.

I have always been interested in the whole Norse god system, so my question is, how do you decide which god to worship?
