With winter coming, your old chemicals may be more susceptible to making dangerous reactions if they are getting old.

Pff... I've had that same bottle of ether for ten years and it's just as good as the day I got it. Only now it's got these cool looking crystals all over the inside. But they're probably nothing. Chemicals don't go bad.

:p

While this thread is pure bollox (as are all the other threads entitled "A timely reminder...") I will share with you the pleasure I once took in finding an old bottle of THF with peroxides formed in it.

We took it up to the roof and took turns to throw rocks at it from a distance - muchos fun times!

OP is just flooding the forum with clone threads, hence the ban.

In this study, we addressed why Caenorhabditis elegans males are inefficient at fertilizing their hermaphrodites. During copulation, hermaphrodites generally move away from males before they become impregnated. C. elegans hermaphrodites reproduce by internal self-fertilization, so that copulation with males is not required for species propagation. The hermaphroditic mode of reproduction could potentially relax selection for genes that optimize male mating behavior. We examined males from hermaphroditic and gonochoristic (male–female copulation) Caenorhabditis species to determine if they use different sensory and motor mechanisms to control their mating behavior. Instead, we found through laser ablation analysis and behavioral observations that hermaphroditic C. briggsae and gonochoristic C. remanei and Caenorhabditis species 4, PB2801 males produce a factor that immobilizes females during copulation. This factor also stimulates the vulval slit to widen, so that the male copulatory spicules can easily insert.

This thread is now about freakishly wierd-ass science, such as nematode raep.

Let's fuck this shit up before we play modball...

This. I can't think of any off hand, but I like the idea.

I did already my chemical cleaning! I threw nothing out, i just had to clean my sodium up a little, the paraffin needed a fresh change, but that is about it.

The older the ether the more unstable it gets especially in room temperature and if it's just sitting on the shelf. Better to be kept in the fridge. I know this and had two bottle's blow the fuck up on me that were about 10years old not being touched. All i did was go to move them. Sat them down and i guess from the vapor fumes building up made the ether very unstable. With a open flame not to far away. Got lucky and got the hell out before the place went up. Should of listened to the drug pharmacist when i was told to keep it cold at all times.
