View Full Version : Who makes their own music?
So, who makes their own music and what do you use?
Me, I use my guitar, FL Studio 8, n whatever i can get my hands on, still haven't made anything decent :p.
I mostly try making electronica, gave up trying metal/rock ages ago when I realised it just wasn't 100% my thing.

I make a bit of stuff every so often, mostly hip hop influenced synth rock. Here's a link to my soundclick:

Plaything is the newest song I've made and is more of a metal song, that and The Toast Song are the only 2 I've recorded with any vocals as of yet (although the toast song was recorded several years back), they're also the least serious songs.

I write songs on guitar, mostly acoustic, but also thrash / groove metal. Nothing too serious though, mostly just 'jamming' with myself.
I'm more serious about my DJ'ing - hard house, italian house, hardcore :D

i write songs on my guitar, if its a song for my band, i write them down in a program Tabit ( www.tabit.net ) and send it to the rest of the members so they can contribute. If im recording a song for myself, I have a line 6 gear box, and sony acid, and FL studios XXL. If my band is recording, our drummer has a small studio, bunch of mics which I am to lazy to list right now, apple computer with logic pro 8, and the sound quality is decent. www.myspace.com/rwanda516 if your interested.

I had a listen to both your songs. I reckon Funeral Rough needs to be a bit faster and i liked Superman Is Dead. Keep it up :applaud:

I've started with FL Studio, I'm just learning the ropes right now, but I'm keen on making some Dubstep.

I've made a few songs on electric organ (dark ambient) but nothing very good, I'd say.

Ive heard good things about dubstep, can you recommend any bands/artists?

I do some amateur jamming with my brother and other people I know on occasion.
I have also been trying my hand at writing some lyrics; something I recently scribbled down could have potential.

I use guitar/drums + REAPER + Fruity Loops w/ tons of synths.
Plus I have a keyboard so it makes laying down the tracks 100x easier.

I play guitar and write songs, or at least try to. Acoustic for the most part, I'm in love with my 12-string. I'm a pretty good guitarist, but I doubt my songs would ever get me anywhere... Just a hobby for me, not a career.
yup, I do my own thing, my influence is very widespread, from prokofiev, to gucci mane to kings of convenience, phish, mr. oizo, B.O.C, the beta band, madlib and so on, www.myspace.com/elstash

What the fuck? Are all these members from totse? As I remember the music forum from totse (which i didn't frequent as much as this one) their weren't nearly as many people into djing or electro. ??IS IT JUST ME??
Anyways, you guys all use FL? I just started making(read:remixing(read:editing)) electro. Dance music (read:party music) like bloody beetroots, mstrkrft, A-Trak, etc.
Since I started I always used ableton live 7. Can anyone compare ableton and FL.
I just started editing songs but I am a long time (in comparison) DJ. I'll record one mix one day and post it up here for feedback. I'm pretty good at making mixes but not very good at djing house parties. Just because everyone wants something different. Their are the spanish dancers, hip hoppers, regaeton( I have no idea how to spell that. wow), rockers, dancers...I go to diverse parties.

Man, it's almost as if there were a sub-forum full of people discussing how they create music. Oh, wait... I think I see it over... here!

Nah, I've always used Reason. I find it easier to use.
This is a new project of mine and another &T member, not sure if he uses zoklet though:

I write shit for my fiddle, lines and random tidbits. I've never wrote a whole song though. I doodle around on guitar but no songs there either. I've never, and probably will never, write lyrics though.
I use fruity loops 8, guitar pro 5 audacity and pro tools
OP pm if you wanna colab or something
I mostly make rap instrumentals btw, check em out

I use ableton, my bass guitar, and an ibanez combo amp. I havent really gotten the recording thing down yet, although ive came up with a few drum beats on ableton that i jam to.
I usually just practice scales on my bass, and out of nowhere i come up with a lick. I practice it and revise it for a few days, and later ill come up with another riff, or an extension to my previous one.
I play everything exclusively on my bass, even when playing chords, and my music sounds sort of like a dark psychedelic metal.

I make my own music. I use my guitars, my laney protube 100, a couple of friends, and a couple of grams (sometimes).

i use any instrument i can...mostly piano, drums, guitar and bass, and like to get people who are better than me to build on my basic ideas.
i also use keyboards/MIDI along with logic, reason, ableton live....probably not FL studio.
i wanna get other stuff like a handsonic but atm, i don't have anything like that.
i've got a shit ton of ideas, and hope to have an album out eventually. still in square one though.

Mememememememememememe.
I use FL Studio 8 and have been for about a year.
Mainly Hardstyle, but I've really been getting into Dirty/Fidget house.
I spend too little time on my songs.

Ableton 7, Akai APC40 and a whole handfulla VSTs
I write tunes on acoustic/electric guitar. Record any riffs I like with Audacity so I don't forget them later....Slowly a bunch of riffs start to melt into one song. Its a lot of fun.
