When picking clothes, it really doesn't matter what brand you wear unless you're in High School. In the real world (aside from "yuppies" ala American Psycho) nobody cares about what name brand you wear as long as you look good. If you like a certain name then by all means, show your support, however, it's not worth that little piece of your soul to do it just to impress people. However, one thing that MUST ALWAYS be name brand is shoes, sneakers and boots/footwear period. And if you're wearing sneakers, tennis shoes never fail, as long as it's just one color, 2 is okay but one is good for starters.
Our soul is our most valuable asset, we want to sacrifice as little of it as possible while getting the most benefit/profit. Last thing we need in this world are more automatons, let us be the ones who stand out with some human substance!
The most important thing about picking clothes is matching AND picking clothes that suit your body type. Sure, If you're an ultra-geek and you wear cool clothes, but still act like a geek then you're going to come off as incongruent at best and at worst, like a serial killer in a costume, good for Halloween, bad for everyday.
Matching isn't difficult, it doesn't require much thought, more the ability to appreciate beauty/love yourself. This why keeping your soul intact is so important, you need it to guide you with stuff like this. However, for you left brainers here's a formula for begginers (note, I don't always dress like this but it never fails).
Only wear 2 colors, one dark, one light.
There is NO WAY you can fuck that up without going out of your way to do so, At all.
If your skinny, wear tight shit, if your fat don't, if you got a good body, well fitting clothes are best.
As for what to wear, get something original and that symbolizes you as a person, think of it as your "flag", you're putting a flag out there because it's who you are, if people see it and like it/compliment it, they are friends. Remember 2 colors only. There's no such thing as not being "cool" enough to wear something that's absurd. Make sure belt matches shoes too.
Now HOW FUCKING LAME are all the guys who are hanging out the same flag going to look next to your unique flag that matches your personality.

Brands matter, it shows your status.
Lets say you see two golfers right same age and everything.
1 has on a designer polo (ralph lauren, lacoste, etc. )
some designer pants and nice nike Golf shoes. He's also wearing on of those expensive bracelets that make you feel better chi or what ever. (You've probably seen the infomercial, they are sold if golf stores every where)
guy 2 god all his shit from K mart.
Now who went to the nice ass resort course and who went the the pay 5 bucks golf all day barely maintained at all piece of shit course?
Who drives the nicer vehicle?
Whose wife is most likely hotter?
The better the brand the higher up you are in life. Be serious everything Americans by is based on brand. You've got to be shitting me if you don't believe that. Your one dumb son a bitch.
It's a proven fact, read some studies. When Americans make more money they buy more expensive and nicer quality shit. Even groceries. Hell haven't you heard of "keeping up with the jones's" ?.. come on..
This guy was bragging about how he got his wife a new 300 dollar purse what are you going to do? Brag about something even more expensive you bought your wife.
Our lives are based on social status, even yours. No matter how old you are who ever has the nicest shit wins. Even if you don't believe your that way, you are.

That's a terribly asinine statement. I live in the US, I care what I look like, and regardless of how much money I have I will still buy most of my clothes at Wal*Mart, Target, or K-Mart. I don't believe you.
In fact, I think YOUR one dumb son of a bitch.

what's it matter what brand you where? it's the same shit for 10xs as much. yeah if some fools got $1,000 pants he's probly got more money than your average wall mart shopper but so what? self expression should deeply define you as an individual, not make you a rung on a ladder.

I;m just saying. Go to some rich neighborhoods. Your name brand shows your status. Car, clothes, anything like that. Most of you would realize this if you didn't spend 90% of your time inside huddled over your computers posting about how pathetic your lives are. Read a fucking sociology book, I'm stating facts god damn it. If you don't realize it your ignorant.
I;m not saying that's how I am either, or how you should be. I wish it wasn't like that. Society has made it that way. Chavinist I really believe all that should matter is matching and looking clean. It's just not that way with our western society.

clothes from kmart can create a style that imitates designer clothes extremely closely, sans the label in terms of colours and fabric appearance.
so it all comes down to whether the people youre with care about labels or not. most of the time, they dont

I wear whatever I like. I'm not trying to impress anyone.
If it's an interview, I'll wear what's expected, otherwise I couldn't give a shit.

Society hasn't made it that way, clever businessmen and marketing did, who make money from the fundamental human weakness of people needing external validation. In other words, people are ignorant about what it is to be happy, not knowing it all starts inside themselves, they go and seek external sources for temporary boosts in self-esteem in order to satisfy short term goals. They gladly exchange large amounts of cash for self-esteem habitually. It becomes a habit because the effect a new name brand outfit has on most people goes away with time/the second people stop complimenting and being jealous.
Clothes are only surface structures of status, they do in fact show other people on a subconscious level that you have access to resources and money and are more likely a better person to get allied with, however, that's only a short term effect, after you've finished dazzling everyone with how much status value you have due to wearing name brands, what else do you bring to the table? Do you even look all that great in those clothes? Maybe, maybe not. It's just clothes like any other clothes, if you can pull it off then you can pull it off.
We live in a time where it's not a life or death choice to be allied to someone with status, so when rationality kicks in and your reptile and monkey brains are finished being dazzled by a price and name, all that you see in front of you is a rich person with name brand clothes, are you even looking at how good it looks on them or are you just being hypnotized by corporate advertising? Most people, even the rich have no idea what looks good on them, people can spend all the money in the world on clothes, but if they make any errors in choosing the right clothes for how they look physically and how they are as a person, their potential is going to drop dramatically. Even the slightest error in what you pick to wear can have a detrimental effect on your overall appearance and no name brand can help you.
A lot of name brand clothing is good, some excellent and a lot of it is just hype. Have you ever seen someone wear EVERYTHING name brand and you couldn't even tell? Something is wrong/missing.
Most people AREN'T buying top of the line name brands, and if they are they're just buying the "bottom" or "middle" stuff of certain name brands, you know, just what their friends in their own socio-economic status and circles are wearing, no more, no less. Many rich people are the ones buying the TOP of the line name brands and collections and they compete. People are without realizing it consciously, carving out who they are, who they roll with and how they feel based on business models. You DON'T have to live that way. It's an illusion that seems real only because others who are more driven by insecurities treat it as if it was real , it's an imaginary box that means nothing.
And if all of this dick measuring and conformity is your cup of tea, then go for it. All I'm saying is that it's not necessary to spend a lot of money in order to look your best, especially if you have good taste and double, no triple if you're a cool person. A person who can pull off looking good with no big name brands other than his shoes is infinitely more charming than someone who looks just like everyone else or only looks like the elite and the clothes are wearing him.
The only people who really care if you wear name brands are people who are controlled more by animal instincts and insecurities than by human rationality, they're more likely to fuck you over for little petty shit in the end. If you like to hang out with people like that then be my guest.

I will still buy most of my clothes at Wal*Mart, Target, or K-Mart.
Lawdy' lawd' :(
To me, brand isn't nearly as important as is the actual colour, fabric pattern etc of what clothes I'm purchasing. Granted I shop at good stores for these clothes, but the actual brand is no worry. Also, price. Fuck brand pricing, I'm not paying over $40-50 for a shirt, nor am I spending hundreds for jeans and shoes. Ralph Lauren is pretty overpriced given its look and quality, imo.
However any of you look at it, it is all down to money. The better the brand - the higher your status in society. The more money you have, the hotter your girl is. That is a fact, and shallow as it is, everything and everyone is shallow if it's not money, just liking someones personality even if they're ugly cunts is shallow then too, in a way.
