View Full Version : What can I do?

I've been growing these for at least 5 or 6 weeks, and from my understanding, they should be bigger:

So what can i do to make them bigger or grow faster? I have a low ass budget and limited transportation to any hardware stores for reasonable indoor growth.
If i were to move them inside at present, the only light i have is a blinking fluorescent bulb and an incandescent light with a "natural" light bulb.
Could adding more fertilizer to the pots aid in faster growth? the only fertilizer i have right now is 10/10/10 and 15/5/10 (for roses), but neither is in the pots. The only thing the plants are growing in is all purpose potting soil.
Right now, theyre growing up in a cupola: http://www.firstimpressionsmailboxes.com/Cupolas/Images/CUSTOM%20CUPOLA%201.jpg that's only about 15 degrees warmer (Fahrenheit) than outside. It's only getting up to about 67 Fahrenheit each day, if not less. Their only light is from the sun and light from incandescent bulbs that turn on in it at night.
So, what can I do?

I'm in the same boat, with weed plants outside in a polytunnel greenhouse. I'm going mental waiting for my Northern Lights and Sativa to grow, and the days are getting shorter and shorter and the nights colder. Soon I'll have to move indoors, but it seems like such a waste. I might start some more indoors, grow in a heated propogator under 24 hours CFL, they'd probably develop faster. I would go aeroponic but that is too much work, soil is ideal for lazy people like myself.
Your plants seem about right for 5 weeks, they start small remember, then before you know it you have an enormous monster plant. In my experience my babies always start off looking totally retarded and stretched. They wind up fine though. Patience is the key.

You're plants are terribly small for 5 weeks. I have a few that are 4 times as large as that...and they're 3 weeks old.
A plant can only grow as fast as its leaves can produce energy...its rate of growth is relative to the enviroment you've provided it. You simply do not have enough light. A Blinking bulb will do NOTHING for a plant as its basically off half the time...and "Natural" light bulbs are not good for growing.
You're going to need a compact fluorescent or something bigger. Go grab yourself a Compact Fluorescent bulb for a few bucks...that's really your only option and even THEN you wont be able to get a harvest worth harvesting with just that.
Edit: A CFL (Compact Fluorescent Light) are like Tube Fluorescents just compacted into a bulbous shape.
This picture should help you:

Do not feed those plants. They will die. You are going to need much more lighting. Is the 67 inside the gazebo or outside. If it's inside, you'll need to raise the temp a little more between 70-80 deg.

67 degrees outside. It really only heats up a shit ton in there when the suns out, otherwise, it's basically the same temp. as outside, maybe a little higher.
I suppose i should get CFL's, but when i don't have a car or a license for that matter, it's kinda hard. I need to apply for a license
But going by that image, maybe i can just get a bunch of regular light bulbs :D
Moar light!
the more light te more bud. period.

I guess, but I start off all my plants under sunlight, they always end up looking all retarded and stretched, but even at that they aren't as small as the OPs, although the OPs have more development and can stand up on their own. Although it might be just my experience so far, I haven't tried any other breed except Northern Lights.
I guess I like to concentrate more on maturing them once they get going. My baby plants look dopey

i have now hung up a lamp in the cupola that's on 24hrs. I put a bunch of tinfoil around the hole in the bottom where you can reach up so less light escapes and more heat is kept it. So far, the past like 3 days i have had this contraption and the plants seem to be growing faster. i just need to get more CFL's
How are these coming along?
we can always use more grow journals.

well i moved them indoors inside my closet after awhile and they were thriving pretty well. I had a fluorescent light like this one:http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/313YZFHE6YL.jpg
it had a light bulb that was meant for plant/aquarium. i also had a normal incandescent lamp in there for heat. I surrounded the area with tin foil so no light could escape and every once and awhile mixed baking soda and vinegar for some CO2.
I had a remote control plane without the wings and turned that on a couple times for air circulation.
The original 7 plants went down to 6 then to 4 and then to 2. These two both grew to be female and began developing what seemed to be crystals on the leaves. All was going well. Until...until a piece of tin foil fell on the plants and crushed them. Fuck.
a piece of tin foil crushed them?

JREwing - From your posts in a few threads It is clear that you know little to nothing about the art of growing cannabis so please STFO and get some experience before you misinform others.
AnotherAnimal - was in relation to your lame attempt to grow/smoking premature leaf and feeling high. I would like to reiterate:

It sounds like you needed more light but what you require is more information. You should: read more and ask people who know btw don't believe people just because they say its true.
jr hasnt posted in this thread in two months.

i put keef on the leaves too, so that probably aided in the feeling.
As soon as i moved them indoors, they did begin growing better, but still remained slightly thin. Regardless, they definitely would've produced bud if they hadn't been slaughtered by gravity.
next time i grow is gonna be in the spring and will be outdoors, so hopefully it'll be better.
