10 minutes isn't enough time, is my guess.
Try 20 minutes.

If more time doesn't remedy the problem, try using diluted battery acid.
However, keep exposure to the acid under 5 minutes to keep from burning yourself.

Finally, if all else fails, a propane torch.
keep the setting low to avoid blistering your skin.
